The past few months have been busy in the district. It has been great to see many of you out and around.
The Boston Marathon attracted international attention with the starting line right here in Hopkinton. Our region's schools have been recognized among the best in the nation and we've seen the start of some exciting projects that will support an expanding local economy including funding for local roadways, a sewer connection and affordable housing which you can read more about in town-by-town news.
The state budget has dominated activity at the State House, and I am pleased that we were able to balance and deliver our state budget on-time during one of the most difficult fiscal years in recent memory while maintaining our high state bond ratings.
Casinos continue to be a hot topic. Thanks to all who completed the survey in the last newsletter or contacted me with your thoughts. Your input was important in informing my recent vote against expanded gambling.
