We just checked the moisture absorber we put in the safe a few months ago...and it was completely turned to liquid!  This time of year in New England is very humid and the moisture absorber does a great job at keeping the contents of your safe free of unwanted mold.  Click here to read more from our February 2010 archived newsletter.

If you have vacation plans this summer that include being away from home, here are some simple things to do to protect your home.  Lock all doors and windows.  Leave lights on timers with various on/off times. Stop delivery of your mail and newspaper or have a neighbor pick them up for you.  If you have deadbolts, use them.  If you have an alarm system, use it!  Have your neighbors keep an eye out for suspicious activity around your house.  And...Words of caution to SOCIAL MEDIA users...It has been reported that burglars are using social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter to gain personal information about people and their holiday and vacation plans, leaving their homes and personal belongings vulnerable to such criminals. Choose carefully what you post on these sites to protect yourself and your family.  Read More...

Another tip...in the warm weather, we all like to have the natural light come in to brighten our homes.  Be safe and install a storm door with a lock to let the sunlight in and burglers out!  If you already have the storm door, install a lock on it.  Anything that slows down a would-be thief is a good deterrent.
