TYPICAL QUESTION TO AA LOCK & KEY:

"My safe is locked shut.  I have had trouble getting it to open for the last month.  Now, I can't get it open at all.  Can you help me?"

ANSWER:

We actually have had this question two times in the last month...first of all, call us right away when you first start having problems with your safe.  All problems are easier to diagnose and more economical to repair if the door is open.  If your combination lock is mechanical, try varying the last number higher and lower several digits.  Take your time and dial it slowly.  If you have an electronic combination lock, change the batteries and use "alkaline only" batteries, even if you think the batteries are ok.

If you do get the safe open, don't lock it again until you have it serviced professionally!  Call us at 860-464-8664.

Another safe tip:   If the contents of your safe get moist, try keeping a moisture absorber like DampRid in the safe.  Follow instructions with the product for usage directions.

History of AA Lock & Key ...Chapter 1

Dave worked at Holdridge Farm Nursery in Ledyard  as Hardware Manager and Buyer for 13 years before starting AA Lock & Key. As he cut keys for customers, he was curious how the key worked.  After checking with his former Ledyard High School Guidance Counselor Bill Standish, Dave found a correspondence course through a school in New Jersey.  It had a fee of around $400.00...when he approached Deb about wanting to take this course, she said, "Okay, but I hope you will do something with it!"  Little did we know that we would start our own business in time to come.  After sending locks back and forth in the mail, Dave learned the basics of locksmithing on evenings and weekends, while still employed full time at Holdridge's.  Chapter 2 to follow next month...tune in!
