May Winni Derby Cancelled
For the first time in 28 years, there will be no salmon fishing tournament on Lake Winnipesaukee.
After
seeing the quantity and quality of the fish decrease at the tournament
over the last two years, and getting a first-hand look at one of the
New Hampshire Fish and Game's netting sites this fall, Executive
Director Rick Davis and committee members have decided to pull the plug
on the annual Winni Derby this year. The 29th salmon fishing derby, a
rite of spring for many in New England, was slated to be held on May
14-16.
