Dear Knitters and Kumihimo-ists!
Greetings! Happy 4th of July! I hope you are all doing something fun to celebrate!
The Furnace Glass Focal Beaded Necklace Kits were a big hit. They vanished into thin air. I ordered more glass beads, assembled the kits and they vanished again. I am working with two artists that make gorgeous Furnace Glass Beads. Since they are one-of-a-kind, they require some patience. I have more coming - so watch carefully the second week of July.
Bracelets are big these days so my projects this month are bracelets. They are quick, make wonderful last minute gifts, look great and they are easy. I hope you will give one or more of them a try! The 12 Strand Ridge Spiral Bracelets look great stacked in many colors. The new Furnace Glass Bead Bracelet Kits are fun too!
Again, thank you to every one of you. Thank you, thank you. It is because of your enthusiasm that I am counting beads and braiding samples into the wee hours (and running to the post office several times a day.
Happy 4th of July,
Karen
P.S. Got something you want to share? Send me an email. I am looking for more Kumihimo Artists for our showcase. Email Karen

12 Strand Ridge Spiral Bracelet Kits |
A Little Twist on the Kumihimo Round Braid!
The 12 Strand Ridge Spiral is an easy yet striking braid. It's like the Kumihimo Round Braid but with a fun twist - a spiraling ridge that adds depth to the braid. This braid is great for bracelets and necklaces and beads can also be added! Wear a single bracelet or make several and stack them on your wrist. They are beautiful!
Kit $11
Kit includes: 10 yards Satin Cord, 8mm "Original" Magnetic End Cap, Instructions with Photos, Tips & Tricks. (There is enough satin cord in your kit that you can reverse main color and ridge color if you like).
Supplies you need: Kumihimo Kit, 12 Bobbins, Scissors, Measuring Tape, Needle, Heavy Duty Thread, Glue (I like WeldBond).
You should know: Basic Kumihimo.

Kumihimo "Artist" Showcase - Linda Hoopingarner
Linda Hoopingarner
Truckee, CA
I love this necklace. It is striking - simple - fun and sophisticated. Just like Linda! Linda is part of our Truckee Kumihimo group and has been part of our braiders' gathering for over a year. She does meticulous and beautiful work. Those of you going on the Kumihimo & Knitting Retreat to Spain in 2013 will meet Linda.
This is great example of one of the Furnace Glass Bead Necklace Kits. Linda used Shanghai Red C-Lon Cord, Red and Cobalt 6/0 Miyuki Seed Beads, a gorgeous Red & Purple Furnace Glass Bead and a 5mm "All in One" Magnetic End Cap.
Kit Cost: $27 |

New! Furnace Glass Bead Necklace Kits |
These are the new Furnace Glass Beads that I received this week. Many of you were perusing the What a Knit website and found these beauties added to the Kumihimo Project Kits page and snapped them up. There are several kits available now and there will be more the second week in July (if all goes according to plan). |

Kumihimo Tip #13 | |

This is a very handy tip to keep in your "toolbox". Often, I start my Kumihimo braids with a Lark's Head Knot. I use a piece of string and here's why: When I am all done braiding, and before I attach my end caps, I use the "tails" of my Lark's Head Knot to thread my focal beads onto my bracelet or necklace. Works like a charm! |
