Avoiding problems with home insulation
Alexandra Marks, a blogger for the Christian Science Monitor, is undergoing an "eco-renovation" at her home in Connecticut. The farmhouse she is renovating is taking advantage of many new construction practices with high energy-efficiency ratings.
While quality insulation such as Icynene, a spray-foam, is important is any green building project, it's also important to consider the pros and cons of using tight insulation.
That's why Marks has installed a mechanical ventilation system that will allow fresh air into the home. This will keep the interior environment comfortable, and maintain high energy-efficiency and cost savings.
