Greetings!

Using reclaimed wood in new home construction is a new trend in green building. Elements of the home -- from flooring to paneling to furniture -- can use reclaimed wood with a vintage look.

There's also good news about Cape Cod home sales in January.

We hope you have a pleasant Friday and a good weekend.
Using reclaimed materials stylishly in new construction homes and renovations
Sustainable, green building has evolved over the years, from modern architecture to distinctive, traditional styles. Now it's possible to have a new construction home with all the benefits of 21st century technology practices to ensure energy-efficiency -- but constructed with vintage materials.

Companies across the country are embracing this new wave of popularity in vintage homes and renovations made with reclaimed materials. For instance, in this Builder online feature story, a home in Ohio is constructed with wood collected from old barns that were sitting empty nearby, vacant and unused. The walls of the guest suite are paneled with wood "rescued from an old historic train station formerly located less than eight miles away" from the home.

Reclaimed wood flooring

Using reclaimed materials isn't limited to just wood panels and flooring. Backsplashes in kitchens can be created using antinque tiling. Furniture can be cleverly put together using different parts of rescued antique chairs and tables.

Using reclaimed vintage materials can give you the feeling of living in an antique home with lots of character -- but still offer you all the benefits of energy-efficient green building.
