VOLUNTEER CORNER
Greetings!
As the summer break comes to an end many of our college students are heading
back to school. We will miss them! As our high school students head
back to school we are hoping that they will remember WFCM as a place to
complete their required academic hours. The energy and enthusiasm that
these young people bring is encouraging and appreciated.
Our 3rd Annual Fellowship Dinner is right around the corner on October
1st. This event is on everyone's mind here at WFCM. We are still in
need of more than 25 Table Hosts. If you are interested in hosting a
table please click on the events tab on our web site http://www.wfcmva.org. In addition to
needing more Table Hosts we also need about 6 more greeters. If you are
interested in being one of our greeters please contact me contact me at abosley@wfcmva.org.
On Saturday, November 13th we will be blessed once again with the proceeds from
the Boy Scout Food Drive, our largest food drive of the year. We will
need approximately 100 volunteers throughout the day at two different
sites. Please mark this day on your calendars and contact me if you are
interested in helping.
As always we continue to be blessed with a wonderful group of volunteers.
We appreciate all our volunteers whether they be long term regular, short term
or special event volunteers! If it wasn't for our many volunteers we
could not provide the services to this community that we do. Thank you!!!
Blessings,
Annette Bosley

Director's Corner
As an
Executive Director, it's sometimes hard to know what priorities are. Recently,
I've been wrestling with that, trying to juggle many projects at one time.
First and foremost, we've felt the call and have accepted the huge task of
opening a second WFCM office, in Centreville! I am happy to announce that we
moved into our new space, on Lee Highway, on Sept 1. As someone who is naturally impatient, the
hunt for the right office certainly tried my patience but made me all the more
aware that God has a plan...He just took His time getting us there. We hope and
pray that this office will serve the ever-growing needs of residents in
Centreville, many of whom are families without transportation to Chantilly and
our food pantry. There are also underserved children in the local elementary
schools without enough food on the weekends.
Additionally, we are preparing for
our biggest fundraiser, our Annual Fellowship Dinner, and there is always a
mystery about which clients will speak this year...again, God always has the
perfect plan, the right people, and in His time he has revealed them to me. I
really hope you will join me on October 1 for this joyous evening.
Please visit our website (www.wfcmva.org)
if you'd like to register.
My staff
always hates me when I tell them we are getting ready to update our WFCM video.
The first year most of them scurried around me busily, claiming to be swamped,
some even took a sick day off so they could avoid the camera! Why do I always
think all people are extroverted and would love
to participate? Anyway, some brave souls agreed to participate in this
year's video, including our faithful volunteers, staff, and clients. I hope you
will be blessed like our supporters have been in the past as you watch this
labor of love...it should be complete by October 1, with plenty of edits I'm
sure. This project has allowed me to
personally meet with clients that I usually just see in passing, and it warms
my heart each time they tell me their stories and how much they appreciate the
services of WFCM. I can go home at the end of a day and know that we truly are
"providing life-essential needs" to those needing our assistance.
We are
busy gearing up for fall...always the busiest season for WFCM, with the Backpack
Drive, Holiday Baskets, the Boy Scout Food Drive, and the Banquet. Still, we
would love it if you can drop by and see all the wonderful things happening at
WFCM (either office!) on a daily basis..stop by anytime and see for yourself -
and be sure and say hello as it would be my privilege to meet each of you
personally. Until then, thank you for your continued support of WFCM. We
couldn't serve without you!
Melissa Jansen, Executive Director
