Sheraton Steps Up to Help: Lowers Room Rates to $99 and $115

Sheraton Chicago

In an unprecedented action, the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers has taken the initiative to lower its rates to assist USHLI National Conference participants.  The recession is obviously hurting everyone and we are no exception, especially our students.  The new rate for students is $99 and $115 for non-students.  The deadline for room reservations, however, remains the same - February 5.  So please don't delay, reserve your rooms today by calling (312) 329-7000!

The new rates will be applied at check-in to all participants who have already reserved their rooms at the higher rates.  If you encounter any difficulty making your reservation(s) contact USHLI immediately at (800) 959-5151.
Southwest Airlines Offers Lower Fares, Discounts, and Bags Fly Free!
SWASouthwest Airlines, USHLI's Official Airline, has an incredible offer for persons attending the USHLI National Conference.  On top of the low fares already available for Business Select, Anytime, or Wanna Get Away travelers, Southwest Airlines is offering our conference participants an additional 10% discount!  Not only is that a great deal for any individual, but a 10% discount for a group of 10 means the group can save enough money for an 11th person to fly free!  Do the math: 10 X 10% = 100%!

When making your reservation(s) simply use the promotional code USHLI10.

USHLI Roles Out 2010 Census "Cuenta Conmigo Campaign"

hazte contarUSHLI is partnering with state commissions, Governor's offices, and student organizations in a campaign to canvass 100,000 Latino households between now and June 1.  The door-to-door Cuenta Conmigo Campaign is designed to encourage Latino families to complete the Census form, disseminate useful information, and to answer frequently asked questions.

The directors of participating state commissions, Governor's offices, national organizations, representatives of student organizations, and media executives will meet with USHLI staff at our national conference to discuss the campaign's implementation strategy.  The Director of the Census Bureau, Dr. Robert Groves, has been invited to participate in the meeting.

A convention style rally will be held at 3:45pm, Thursday, February 18, during the USHLI national conference to formally launch the campaign.  For more information contact Ricardo Lopez at (312) 427-8683.
USHLI Plans 25,000 Calls/Text Messages to Congress
Cell PhoneUSHLI National Conference participants will be called upon to support Comprehensive Immigration Reform by using their cell phones to call and/or text strategically targeted members of Congress.  High school students attending our College Recruitment Fair on Wednesday, February 17, will make 15,000 calls or send text messages to leaders in both the U.S. House and Senate.

A Comprehensive Immigration Reform action Rally is planned for Friday morning, February 19, immediately following our Labor Breakfast.  USHLI has invited Reform Immigration 4 America to lead conference participants in making 10,000 calls or sending text messages to congressional leaders in support of immigration reform.
