Workshop Tip # 7:

Compliance eLearning from Real-Life Government Penalties

Oftentimes, the stories of non-compliance are right in front of us. Although some may find it unsuitable to their company because of sensitivities and legal constraints, citing court rulings and administrative penalties and judgment demonstrate clearly why compliance elearning is a must for learners. Now, the challenge is that when we only show them the rules and regulations and the boring details of the law (by clicking, clicking and just clicking through pages to show compliance) this completely discourages and disengages learners.

It seems easy enough to identify the stories from public websites like the Department of Justice, but, how to reformulate these to embed your learning lessons is the skill set required. You will learn more of this from the workshop.

You can start your compliance eLearning by:
(a) selecting the appropriate publicly available court rulings.
(b) provide a brief summary.
(c) provide a link for detailed reading and ask your learners to discuss (in a discussion room) the implications of the ruling in your organization.
(e) provide them optional and simple scenarios of related violations and ask them to make a judgment.
