Workplace Equality Initiatives in Mexico: Selisse Berry to Deliver Keynote Speech at LGBT Confex
Out & Equal Founding Executive Director Selisse Berry will present a special keynote address during the Gala Dinner at the Second International Expo & Business LGBT event in Cancun, Mexico September 6-9.
LGBT Confex is Latin America's leading organizer of LGBT conferences and events. CEO Ruben Sandoval said he was delighted to announce Out & Equal's participation in the 2nd International Expo & Business LGBT event being put on by his company.
"We are working very hard to bring LGBT issues to the consciousness of more organizations in our region," Sandoval said. "To do this we are taking a holistic approach - and we focus on LGBT people's lives as workers, as consumers and as members of their families. The leadership role that Out & Equal has taken in the area of workplace equality is inspiring."
"Out & Equal is pleased to be participating in this event," said Selisse. "Our work started in the United States and has expanded globally in recent years. LGBT employees everywhere face complex and diverse issues that relate to their sexual orientation and gender identity. Something as basic as an invitation to a work function takes on a whole different hue if a person is not out about their sexual orientation with everyone they work with. This can cause real issues, and we see workplace equality as an area where there is still much to be done in Mexico, and across Latin America."
