Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ
is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your
Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory,
that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives
and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen. *************************

Appeal for Haiti

In seeing the news, video and pictures from Haiti one can only be moved with compassion for the suffering of these people in the earthquake disaster. We raised $2611.00 in our offering Sunday and with a grant from our outreach commission we sent a total of $3611.00 to assist in the recovery. You can still make a contribution, either mail it our PO Box or bring it this Sunday. There is much still to be done and I cannot help but think given the proximity that this might be where God might call us to a hands-on mission trip in 2010. It will take them years to rebuild and maybe by this summer we could send a team of folks to help in these efforts. Join in me in praying for this and if you are interested you can contact Sherise Nelson our Outreach Chairperson. Please continue to pray for God to pour out his grace and mercy on this island nation and that the people in need would be provided for in body, soul, mind and spirit.
LIVE, LOVE, LEAD in 2010... I believe as we move forward in 2010 we are to take these ideas as a theme or focus. (three sermons from January 3, 10, and 17 are on our website) The challenge is before us as we live into this new season of mission and ministry resident at Canterbury. There are all sorts of opportunities and projects to take on in establishing the church in this place and I invite you to be creative and to contribute where you can in the effort to advance the Kingdom of God into the hearts and lives of men, women, and children in this community and beyond. How we live, love and lead matters to God, to our community and church, to our family and to ourselves.
Pray for the mission and ministry of Canterbury...
Almighty God, bless
Canterbury Retreat & Conference Center; make it a lively center for sound
learning & in the course of this busy life, a place of spiritual renewal,
refreshment & peace. Give wisdom to the Board & Staff; to make wise
decisions, to be good stewards of all resources. Lead us we pray to strength
& stability. Inspire us by your Holy Spirit with a vision for greater
mission & effectiveness for the expansion of your Kingdom in this diocese
& beyond; that people would come to know you as Lord & Savior; grow in
their knowledge of you by the work done here. We ask this in the name of Jesus
Christ who modeled for us the need for retreat to be strengthened &
renewed. Amen.

Incarnation at Canterbury...
There is a great deal required to keep Canterbury going. Many projects to take on in terms of cleaning -up the grounds, landscaping, painting, and much more. If you are interested in taking on something, taking care of a specific area or task please let Fr. Jon know... jon@incarnationoviedo.com
Parking and Access: I am asking all those who are able to walk to the chapel, to park in the main parking lot near the Canterbury entrance. This will make for a short walk to the chapel through the campus. If you have mobility issues you are welcome to drive the gravel / dirt road around the perimeter of the Canterbury Campus to get to the chapel. You can check out a MAP OF CANTERBURY on the website CLICK HERE
Nursery: We are establishing our own nursery and it will be located in the Durham Room located in the in the breezeway of the 2 story lodging building on the way to the chapel. This is a living room space that has a kitchenette and bathroom and will serve us well in the short term. We have a pager system we will employ to give to parents when they drop off and check-in their child. For more information contact Shelly Buchan.
