Greetings!,
My last Newsletter (September) focused on color, with fun quizzes, interpretations, and more. This month's issue focuses on shape and texture in the development of my latest creations. I have also included fun facts, quizzes and personality descriptions of shape.
When designing my metal creations (sterling and fine silver, copper, brass and jeweler's bronze), I combine shape and texture - and sometimes color - to accentuate visual interest.
Textures in my designs range from the smoothest polished mirror to the roughest mountain range as might be seen from an airplane to add a punch of visual excitement to the piece.
Shape is a basic element of design. Three basic types -- geometric (structured and often symmetrical), natural (irregular and fluid), and abstract (stylized or simplified versions of natural), guide me in a direction I must follow. The metal speaks quietly telling me which path to take, as if the piece already knows what the finished product will look like when completed. As a designer, I recognize that different textures can affect interest in different ways. There are two kinds of texture: tactile texture is the actual (3D) feel of a surface and visual texture referring to the illusion of the surface's texture. Texture is one of the more subtle design elements. I employed shape and texture in my latest "Wrinkled" collection. This limited edition series utilizes texture in a random motif to create a very naturalistic fluid, but static illusion of movement I thank you all for your support and encouragement. Here, now, is the debut of my latest creations, "Wrinkled," from the Sizzlin' in Silver collection. Enjoy!
Happy Holiday!
Gina

NEW COLLECTION - "Wrinkled" |

Silizzin' in Silver's Latest Additions...
Welcome in the newest family member of the Bejeweled by Gina collection of designs, "Wrinkled."
The "Wrinkled" collection is fun, sexy, bold and beautiful. The pieces were inspired by Shibori -- a resist-dye textile technique, similar to Western tie-dying -- a method developed in Japan in the 8th century.
This collection is my contemporary interpretation of the ancient, replacing fabric with sterling silver (.925), fine silver (.999), and occasionally dark patina and vermeil, to create interesting and unique works of wearable art.
"Wrinkled" is a limited edition series:
Earrings - Rings - Pendants
Necklace - Cuff Bracelets
Available for on-line purchase, exclusively at Bejeweledbygina.com.

| SHAPE = MOOD... |

Does Shape Affect You?
Did you know that shapes can convey a mood just like any other element of design?
Angular shapes like squares and triangles tend to indicate masculinity, while smooth and curving shapes like circles are more feminine.
Squares are very familiar to us (think of your monitor, a piece of paper or the TV screen), so they are secure, trustworthy and stable.
Circles very pleasing to the eye and are organic, whole, peaceful and exude unity.

What Personality Type Are You?
CIRCLE: The Negotiator.
The CIRCLE personality's focus is on peace. Their wants and needs are based around being peaceful and harmonious. They are good negotiators. The circle symbolizes their ability to stay fair and rounded to promote harmony.
Circles expresses the totality of the psyche in all its aspects, including the relationship between man and the whole of nature. Whether the symbol of the circle appears in primitive sun worship or modern religion, in myths or dreams, in the ground plans of cities, or in the spherical concepts of early astronomers, it is always points to the single most vital aspect of life - its ultimate wholeness.
RECTANGLE - The Seeker.
RECTANGLES - the secret shape - with hidden resources of flexibility and discovery are highly inquisitive and courageous. This is the transitional shape - the sides (or rules) can change at any moment so that you can sometimes feel like you don't know if you are coming or going. We all move through the rectangle to shape-shift to the other preferences.
You are a seeker and an explorer, searching for ways in which you want to grow and change. Rectangles aren't necessarily 100% certain where their future will take them and are not sure if they want to stay in permanent employment or move into the big wide world of freelancing. It has been said that the only predictable thing about a Rectangle is that they are unpredictable!
TRIANGLE - The Ambitious Leader.
TRIANGLE focus is on power/leadership, they like to get to the point... and are always on a road to somewhere.
They can be dogmatic and shoot from the hip. They like recognition and are delighted to tell people about their accomplishments. Sometimes they might seem self-centered and egotistical. Triangles tend to put stock in status symbols. American business has been run by triangles, and this shape is most characteristic of men. These are the individuals who fall between the square and the circle. They are halfway between a square and a circle, and may lean one way or another depending on the circumstances. A triangle can be termed as a cross between a square and a circle. They are not committed to beliefs and ideas like the squares and circles are. They are very difficult to identify because they can swing both ways, one time behaving like a square and the other like a circle.
SQUIGGLE - The Creative/Odd.
Creative , intuitive, witty and motivated, SQUIGGLES have two energy states: bouncy or off! Squiggle people are They can become eccentric, impulsive and ungovernable. This is the shape of the natural child within you: curious, creative, charismatic, charming, or moody and disruptive, very energetic, inspiring and exhausting!
Squiggles are "what if" people, always thinking of new ways to do something. Their minds never stops their cognitive leaps. They can see the forest and sometimes miss the trees. They have a short attention span, don't like highly structured environments and don't tolerate the mundane well.
My favorite group (don't tell the other shapes I said that!). Squiggles are truly the idea people - always thinking - always coming up with new ideas. The problem is, THEY DRIVE EVERYONE ELSE CRAZY! (Do they care? No!) Squiggles have spent a lifetime dancing to the beat of their own crazy drummer and wouldn't have it otherwise. They delight in tackling the world head on, love trying new things, mainly because they get bored so easily, however, they don't always follow through and finish all those projects.
