Greetings!
This week is the first Sunday in Advent. Advent comes from the Latin word, "adventus" meaning "coming" and it begins the time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of Jesus' birth. That's all "fancy" talk for CHRISTMAS IS COMING! Oh happy day!
I'd like to challenge you this Christmas season to look beyond what's under your own tree. Give the Salvation Army a hand and sign up to ring bells by one of their red kettles for a few hours, adopt an angel from our Caring & Sharing @ Christmas tree, donate some food to the food pantry, come to church and help "Hang the Greens", stop by a nursing home and visit with someone who would like to chat, offer childcare to the parents of young children so they can have a "night out", bake cookies (or buy them at our Cookie Walk) and give them to a friend, there are so many ways to get out from under your own tree! It'll be good for you and it'll be good for them as we are waiting. Expectant. Preparing. Christ is Coming! See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat! Patti

Caring & Sharing @ Christmas - Angel Tree
|
Only 11 Angels Left! New Hope is sponsoring several families from Vida Nueva United Methodist Church again this year. We'll be "Caring & Sharing @ Christmas" by providing toys, clothing, food, and gas cards for the families. To participate, just stop at the Angel Tree, select an angel (or angels), purchase the items listed on your angel, and return the wrapped gifts to New Hope on or before Sunday, December 12th.
Too busy to shop? We'll do it for you! There are angels on the tree with envelopes attached - simply return the envelopes with cash or check made out to New Hope and we'll take care of obtaining the item(s) for you. The envelopes should be returned to New Hope on or before Dec. 5th.
Note: Be sure to register your angel when you select one, so we can ensure that all the children on our list will get a gift.

Scrip Program Needs Volunteers
|
Volunteer every week or occasionally We are looking for volunteers to help either on a weekly or occasional basis for our Scrip program to raise funds for the ministries and programs here at New Hope Church. Sheryl Mielke has volunteered to take leadership on this project and she'll need help! We'll need people to collect and distribute the orders on Sundays from 10 - 10:30 a.m. We will also need help early in the week to tally the orders and later in the week to fill them. Please contact Patti if you are willing to help.
Scrip is "no-selling" fundraising that allows New Hope to raise money based on your everyday purchases. Scrip is a term that means "substitute money" and when you purchase scrip through New Hope, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our church.
The church buys the scrip at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is our organization's revenue which we will use to support programs and ministry right here at New Hope. This is a GREAT way for you to support our church!
