Greetings!
I am thrilled as I work on this ENews and I see all we have going on here at New Hope during the Advent Season. Wow - we are so blessed and have so much to be thankful for! On top of that Pastor Greg just popped into my office and was sharing with me some exciting stats about the results of Commitment Sunday last week and our pledges for 2011.
The pledges from our new members exceed the pledges of those who have moved away by $3,600. Also, the congregation has been increasing their pledges an average of 24.6%. Isn't that wonderful? We will still be on a tight budget, but we are very grateful for the generosity here at New Hope. If you have not yet turned in your pledge card, it's not too late and we'd still love to hear from you.
In the meantime, check out the activities we have scheduled and get involved. Meet someone new. Adopt an angel from the tree. Bake some cookies. Buy some treats to share with friends. Experience worship in another language. Attend a Bible Study. The season is here to be thankful and rejoice!
See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat! Patti

Sharing Food at Thanksgiving
| Bring a canned food/hygiene item to church with you Sunday
We urge you to bring a canned food item this Sunday to share with someone less fortunate. The Scout food drive was not as plentiful as the local pantries had hoped and they are in need of items to distribute. In addition to food there is also great need for non-food items such as laundry detergent, shampoos, and toilet paper. So when you grocery shop, buy one for you and one to share!

Caring & Sharing @ Christmas - Angel Tree
|
Come and select your angel from the tree this week! New Hope is sponsoring several families from Vida Nueva United Methodist Church and De Pere Christian Outreach for Christmas again this year. We'll be "Caring & Sharing @ Christmas" by providing toys, clothing, food, and gas cards for the families. To participate, just stop at the Angel Tree, select an angel (or angels), purchase the items listed on your angel, and return the wrapped gifts to New Hope on or before Sunday, December 12th.
Too busy to shop? We'll do it for you! There are angels on the tree with envelopes attached - simply return the envelopes with cash or check made out to New Hope and we'll take care of obtaining the item(s) for you. The envelopes should be returned to New Hope on or before Dec. 5th.
Note: Be sure to register your angel when you select one, so we can ensure that all the children on our list will get a gift.

- Receive a personal Holiday Survival Guide
Anyone experiencing this need is welcome to attend, so please share the details of this event with friends or co-workers who may find it helpful.
Child care will be available, please let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly. Course fee to cover the cost of the book is $5 and click here to sign up ahead of time or just show up the night of the event.

Scrip Program Needs Volunteers
|
Volunteer every week or occasionally We are looking for volunteers to help either on a weekly or occasional basis for our Scrip program to raise funds for the ministries and programs here at New Hope Church. Sheryl Mielke has volunteered to take leadership on this project and she'll need help! We'll need people to collect and distribute the orders on Sundays from 10 - 10:30 a.m. We will also need help early in the week to tally the orders and later in the week to fill them. Please contact Patti if you are willing to help.
Scrip is "no-selling" fundraising that allows New Hope to raise money based on your everyday purchases. Scrip is a term that means "substitute money" and when you purchase scrip through New Hope, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our church.
The church buys the scrip at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is our organization's revenue which we will use to support programs and ministry right here at New Hope. This is a GREAT way for you to support our church!
