Greetings!
The New Hope Scrip program is up and running! We have several people who have signed up and have placed their first order. Here are the answers to a couple frequently asked questions:
- Q: Do the cards expire?
- A: No they do not expire. The only exception to this is the VISA card that declines over a period of time.
- Q: What about Fleet Farm, Festival Foods, Woodmans?
- A: There are two Scrip companies. We launched with the biggest company that is organized on a national level. We are in the process of adding the local scrip company to our database and our account will be set up with them within a week or two. At that point you'll be able to order scrip for Festival Foods, Fleet Farm, Woodmans, Kohls, and several other local businesses. You'll place all your orders from the same website. If the company has an asterisk * next to it, that means the local scrip company offers a higher rebate percentage and we encourage you to select that one.
- Q: How do I sign up?
- A: Click here to link for more info.
I'm leaving today with the confirmation class as we head to the United Methodist's Children Services of Milwaukee to spend two days serving the needs of the residents and children. They have indicated they will most likely have us paint, move and rearrange a storage area and sort items that have been donated. We will also have the opportunity to learn more about the homeless, what the UMCS is doing to help and how we fit into that picture. Watch for an update after we return. In the meantime, thanks for your prayers and support! See you Sunday - I'll save you a seat! Patti

| Trick or Treat at New Hope |
October 30th 10 a.m. - noon
Bring your little ghosts and goblins trick or treating and make sure to stop by the church between 10 and noon on Saturday,
October 30th.
New Hope is participating in the De Pere Chamber's
annual event and children who stop in will have the opportunity to
play a game, win a prize and get their picture taken. The Chamber is sponsoring a list of participating
businesses, including New
Hope, so what a great opportunity for the
community to come in and check us out. If you're interested in helping with this fun
afternoon event contact Jen Engel via email jenengel24@sbcglobal.net.

Stickers for Readers Needed
|
Deadline to bring stickers is this week - Put them in the "Sticker baskets" on the refreshment table.
Lindsay Bacher (Patti Bacher's daughter) is collecting stickers. Her new position is with the Minnesota Reading Corps as the Corporate Volunteer Liaison and they have 675 members who read books with kids every day. The volunteers that read to the children give stickers to the students with whom they work. Lindsay is asking if we can help her collect stickers of all shapes, sizes and colors for them to hand out. So if you have any stickers laying around, or are at the store and see some you like, bring them in and we'll get them to Linz and her army of readers. She and her new hubby, Andrew, plan to be here to worship with us on Oct. 31st so we can give them to her then.
John Wesley said...
"Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as ever you can."
...these readers certainly fit that mold when it comes to reading with these kids!

Healing Service on November 7th
|
Special service at 11:35
New Hope's Health Ministry team will be holding a Healing Service on Sunday, November 7th at 11:35 a.m. for anyone who is dealing with the loss of a loved one or friend, or struggling with other hurts and illnesses. This quiet service, led by Rev. Barb Ristow, offers time to mediate, reflect and heal in a personal and spiritual way. No matter where you are in your faith journey or life struggles, this service is open to people of all backgrounds to offer hope and healing. If you know someone who is hurting invite them to join you.
"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:13-14)

Prayer Shawls/Lap Robes Available
| |
Prayer shawls and lap robes are available for those who are going through a difficult time and need the comfort and warmth of knowing they have been prayed for. The Heartwarmers - Wrapped In Prayer group has been busy knitting, crocheting and quilting and have a number of them ready for those in need. If you know of someone that would feel comforted by receiving a shawl or lap robe, please contact the church office or anyone of the Heartwarmers to make arrangements. You can either deliver the item yourself or we will arrange for it to be delivered.

| Video Techs Needed |
This "Tech" task is not so technical
Looking for a way to help out at church but don't like to be in the limelight? Afraid this is a "technical" job and you're not very "techie"? Then this would be a perfect opportunity for you. The video tech job is a behind the scenes task and does NOT require a lot of technical know how. The video techs are the ones who keep the info on the video screens moving and on pace with the service. We'll provide the training, but basically all you need to do is follow the service and push a button a couple seconds before the screen changes.
We need more volunteers for both services. If you think this is something you would be interested in contact the church office by email or by phone at 964-0143

Scrip Program Needs Volunteers
|
Volunteer every week or occasionally We are looking for volunteers to help either on a weekly or occasional basis for our Scrip program to raise funds for the ministries and programs here at New Hope Church. Sheryl Mielke has volunteered to take leadership on this project and she'll need help! We'll need people to collect and distribute the orders on Sundays from 10 - 10:30 a.m. We will also need help early in the week to tally the orders and later in the week to fill them. Please contact Patti if you are willing to help.
Scrip is "no-selling" fundraising that allows New Hope to raise money based on your everyday purchases. Scrip is a term that means "substitute money" and when you purchase scrip through New Hope, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, gas and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our church.
The church buys the scrip at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value. The discount - from two to fifteen percent or more - is our organization's revenue which we will use to support programs and ministry right here at New Hope. This is a GREAT way for you to support our church!
