From the Streets to the Stage
Part Two: Hope for Homeless Youth
At least 13,000 homeless youth live on the streets of Los Angeles and 79% of these kids go unsheltered at night. Most of them have runaway from their homes because of physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect.
23,000 foster youth in Los Angeles County will "age out" of the foster care system when they turn 18 and are emancipated. Around 60% of them will become homeless.
Homeless kids face grave danger on the streets, including assault, illness and suicide. If they survive, most of them end up on welfare, in prison or permanently homeless.
In our last issue, we shared with you the state of homeless youth and the impact of a Create Now! program at L.A. Youth Network. In the second part of our two-part series, we showcase Hope For Homeless Youth and Kevin Brennan, an actor and mentor with Create Now!

Featured Supporter - In-N-Out Burger Foundation
Since 2006, the In-N-Out Burger Foundation has generously provided grants for a number of our programs. We're delighted to report that for 2008, the funding will go directly to support the Take heART! program, allowing us to continue to bring our innovative visual arts projects to those Southern California youth in most need. Create Now! is very grateful for the continued assistance of this wonderful foundation.

Create Now! is
an independent, 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that was founded in
1996. Our mission is to change the lives of high-risk and at-risk
youth through creative arts mentoring, resources and opportunities.
The organization serves kids who have been abused, neglected,
abandoned, orphaned, are left homeless, runaways, foster children, teen
parents, victims of domestic violence, children of prisoners, substance
abusers, gang members or incarcerated. For the past eleven years,
we've reached over 11,000 of these troubled youth through our unique arts mentoring and cultural programs.
