Clean Your House!
and help the Grace New-to-You Sale
June 11-12
It's that time again...time to reorganize and
simplify your life by searching your drawers, closets and garages for those
items you no longer use.Mark
your calendars for June 11 and 12 for the great Grace New-to-You Sale. Rachel Brandt
welcomes volunteers to sort, price, arrange and sell all the
wonderful items donated by our generous Grace members. You may donate your items on Sundays
May 16 thru June 6 at the truck which will be parked at the church. Please only
bring items when the truck is open.
All other donations may be brought during the week of June 7. Larger items and furniture must be
dropped off the week of June 7.
Please, no stationary bikes or treadmills. Also, this year, Rachel's crew reserves the right to refuse
items that are of ill repair or are deemed not saleable.There will be five departments: Clothing; Books and Home Décor;
Housewares; Electronics and Garage items; and the Kid's Room. Preview Night, only open to Gracies, is
Thursday, June 10, 5-8 pm. Sip some wine and enjoy some appetizers while being the first to browse
for the best deals. The suggested donation is $15 per person for the preview
evening and free to all volunteers.
The sale will take place on Friday, June 11, 9am-8pm and

Kids Happen

Registration is almost complete for Shine the Light Week, with only a few spots remaining. Our week of summer fun takes place July 27-30, from 9am-12 noon and is available to children who have completed at least one year of preschool through fourth grade.
In addition to our Shine The Light program for the younger kids, we are also taking registrations for those rising 5th graders and above for our Photography Camp. Colleen Rain returns again this year to lead this group as they learn about lighting, shadows, composition and editing. They can plan to spend a little time as "camp counselors" in Shine the Light art and outdoor games. Then they will hike the trails, explore the garden and be our camp photographers. Once our Shine the Light campers have left for the day, our Photography campers will take over the Grace kitchen and prepare their own gourmet lunch. They'll learn knife skills, menu planning and some cooking tips and then enjoy the feast they prepare together. Photography campers should plan to arrive by 9am and be picked up at 1:30. (Noon pick up if they do not plan to stay for the cooking portion of the camp.) Cost of the camp is $25 per child for the week if they plan to stay for the cooking portion and $15 if they are participating only in the photography portion.

Thanking our Godly Play Volunteers
June 6th, 9:30 Worship Service
Please plan to be at church on Sunday, June 6, when we thank our fabulous Godly Play volunteers and celebrate the coming season of summer with a special coffee hour. There will be games for the kids out on the lawn and perhaps a special treat or two. And when you see the following people at coffee hour, or even walking down in Winslow, give them a hug and say thanks for the time and gifts they have shared with our children.

Kids In/Parents Out

Due to a conflict our spring Kids In/Parents Out has been moved to Saturday, June 5th. We'll take advantage of the approaching summer and longer days to spend some time outside playing games and perhaps enjoying a little gardening. Use It or Lose It!
You can support the Grace "New to You Sale" and clear out your house at the same time. Here are some questions to ask yourself as you share some of your past treasures with the community:
What to Keep and What to Let Go
Does this inspire you? Or drain your energy?
If you can, let it go.
When was the last time you used this? More than a year? Consider letting it go.
If you don't use it very often, could you borrow or rent the few times you need it? If yes, let it go.
Is it a duplicate? Keep the best one and pass on the other one.
Is it out of date? Clothing that you may never wear again? Pass them on.
If you didn't have this anymore, what impact would it have on your life? Would you have to replace it? If no, Trash, Recycle, Pass On.
Do you value this item? If yes, put it where you can enjoy it. If not, Pass On.
Will you really finish this unfinished project? When? Are you keeping this because you'd feel guilty if you tossed it? People give gifts because they want to please you. If you don't like it or use it, give it a home with someone who will. Let go of the guilt!
Car-less
Sunday, May 30
The math of "Car-less
Sunday" is simple: each mile we
travel by car results in roughly one pound of CO2 emissions.
Any time we reduce the
number of car trips we take, combine a trip with others, or use alternative
transportation we help to lower how much CO2 we are putting into the
atmosphere, thereby slowing, or even reversing the climb in total CO2
which is contributing to climate change.
And, there are added benefits of exercise and community. Try a different choice this Sunday, and
invite someone who lives near you to bicycle or join your carpool, then tell us
about your experience!

Outreach
Washington Women in Need Washington Women in Need ("WWIN") is the next outreach grant partner scheduled to visit Grace following the June 6th 9:30AM service. WWIN provides financial assistance for health care and educational needs to low income women living in Washington State. Please welcome WWIN Executive Director Deborah Cushing on the 6th, who will give an overview of WWIN at the classroom side of the sanctuary following the service.

Camp Huston Open House & BBQ
Just a reminder that Camp Huston will be hosting a Free Open House BBQ this Saturday, May 29th from 10 am to 4 pm. Take this opportunity to tour camp, ask questions, meet the staff and enjoy a hot dog with friends!
