Cold or Flu, What to do!
Product Sale until Nov 15th!
newsletter header
Greetings!

Well, it's not surprising, but flu shots are being peddled all over the place these days- pharmacies, airports, the mall. Last year I wrote a lot about these shots- and my opinion hasn't changed.  I am not a fan.  They are not safe, not effective and not necessary.

So what are your options? Read on.
I really want you to be educated about your health and know what you can do easily about it!

Do you know what the difference is between a common cold and the flu?
Fever! Both the cold and flu may cause fatigue, muscle discomfort, and cough, but these symptoms during a flu can be more severe.

I am a big fan of having a stocked medicine cabinet- I am not a fan of being sick, so like to make sure that I have remedies on hand to nip colds and flus in the bud. Over the years I continue to refine the remedies that I see to be the most helpful at preventing and treating colds and flus to decrease their duration and ease symptoms.

In this issue I will share:

  • My Top 12 Tips for Preventing and Treating Colds and Flus
  • A Healing Soup Recipe- the best when you are sick!
All of my immune support products are on sale now until November 15th- so stock up now!

And a pre-holiday Virtual Cleanse starting in November-it is not too late to join!

Please note if you have been thinking about taking one of my cleanse programs, now is the time! Essential Cleanse Program rates will be increasing January 1.  But if you register before December 31st for any of the scheduled January or February Classes, you will get the current rate!

Remember, healthcare reform starts with you, but you gotta know what to do!

In health!

Dr Cory
Dr. Cory's Top 12 Flu Prevention and Treatment Tips

As I mentioned in last weeks pharmacy bamboonewsletter, I am more concerned about the potential health damage from the flu vaccine, than treating the  actual flu.  But an ounce of prevention can go a really long way when it comes to the Flu- swine or otherwise.

If you would like a review of why I am opposed to the flu vaccines, take a look at this post on my blog.

So let's start with Safe and Effective Flu Vaccine Alternatives.

Muccocinum: My Numero Uno
MucococinumUsed effectively in Europe for decades, this homeopathic remedy provides a whopping 88% effectiveness rate for preventing the flu- no matter what strain is going around! No flu vaccine is even coming close to that.  And, it's super simple: Take 1 tablet every other week from October to March. You can also take it to treat flu symptoms-clinical evidence also shows it has an 82% efficacy rate. And while it sounds similar, it is not the same as over-the-counter Oscillococcinum. .

Mucococcinum: It's cool. It's Euro. It works and it's on sale in my natural pharmacy 'til November 10th!

So what can YOU do to protect yourself and your family?

The list below includes some common sense practices, dietary approaches and specific products that I have seen work incredibly well.

I am a big advocate of having a stocked medicine cabinet. If you can address symptoms at the onset, you can often prevent a cold or flu, greatly shorten its duration and/or prevent it from turning into something nastier- like bronchitis, pneumonia or strep throat.
When you are sick the last thing you want to do is go to the store and stare at the shelves wondering which of the hundreds of products is going to work best for you.  And you certainly don't want to sit at home not taking anything that could improve your recovery because you are too sick to go to the store and you don't want to ask for help.

So let me help you.
I've done the work and have seen over the years what is most effective. All my immune support products are 15% off until November 15th, and I will include information on how to take everything most effectively so there is no guess work for you.  I want you to be happy and healthy!

If you have questions about using products with pregnancy, or which ones are safe and most effective for kids, just ask!. I have some specific products that are great for babies and kids.

SO here we go...my Top 12 for Preventing and Treating the Flu

1. Wash your hands frequently or use a natural hand sanitizer.

2. Avoid touching your nose, mouth, or eyes, with dirty hands as this is how viral particles are spread. Avoid or limit contact with people who are sick or might have been exposed to the flu.

3. Load up on raw green vegetables and drink green juices, wheatgrass, and sprouts, which offer your body high energy foods to help alkalinize your body and resist infection. Use a green powder superfood.

4. Boost immune function by supplementing with Vitamin D or Cod liver oil with Vit D.  It is an essential winter immune support staple.

5. If you tend to have a weak immune system, or catch everything going around, then I recommend a formula called Multi Thymus Complete. It is the bomb. It can be taken daily, or increased as needed. (Please note: it is not vegetarian)

6. Have your medicine cabinet stocked with remedies that will help with the flu. I like Muccocinum, Acute Immune Formula, Flu-Ease, and IM-Encaps . Additionally, I like to have support for cough elixir and sore throat spray on hand.

7. Catch up on extra sleep.

8. Eliminate or cut down on sugar.

9. Give up alcohol and coffee for a while. These substances tax your liver and do you know that the liver plays an important role in immune function? Consider a cleanse.

10. Engage in stress-reducing techniques, such as meditation, hiking, guided imagery, fun and creative endeavors.

11. Mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda in water and drink it once a day. This helps alkalinize the body, which helps it fight infection. Make sure you are drinking at least 8 cups of water/day minimum. Avoid ice water.

12. Don't panic. Stress reduces immune function, and there are so many supportive things you can do to protect yourself and stay healthy!

Healing Soup for Colds and Flus
antiviralhoney
I prescribe this soup a lot during cold and flu season.  Garlic has been shown to have  anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-parasitic properties, so it helps with any kind of infection, and helps thin mucous. Hooray!

Ingredients:
28 ounces chicken broth or vegetable broth
1 bulb garlic (about 15 cloves)
5 sprigs parsley, minced
6 sprigs cilantro, minced
1 teaspoon lemon pepper (natural, salt-free or low-sodium brand) or juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon minced mint leaves
1 teaspoon minced sweet basil leaves
1 teaspoon curry powder

Directions: Peel the garlic cloves, and place with the other ingredients in a pan without a lid. Boil, then simmer for about 30 minutes. Pour through a fine strainer or cheese cloth to remove the solid contents. Or, the garlic and herbs can be minced up finely and left in the soup. I like to add chard, kale, celery, shitake mushrooms and carrots to make a more substantial soup.  But if appetite is low, go for the strained soup.

Instructions for use: The fumes of the boiling soup and its constituents can be inhaled during its preparation. The soup and its constituents can be divided into 4-8 equal portions, each of which should be taken at the beginning of a meal, one to three times a day.  A more dilute preparation may be preferred, both personally and socially, until you adapt to this therapy. I suggest fasting on this soup while you are sick.
