What People are saying about the Essential Cleanse Program....

"I came to Dr Cory with chronic digestive issues.  After two weeks of her Essential Cleanse, my digestion is better than it's been in 3 years.  And I wasn't even expecting an improvement in my joint pain, but now I'm doing handstands with significantly less pain than I've ever had!"

Happy Summer!

Welcome to Summertime Fun!

golden delicious
In my last newsletter, I was about to embark on a cleanse in an effort slim down for bikini season amongst other things. Well, 2-weeks later I am feeling more trim and energized, and have lost the little bloated belly action that I had been dealing with.  It wasn't that extreme, as I am fairly fit and keep my system running smoothly, but it was noticeable enough that sometime my clothes would feel uncomfortably tight, or I would have fashion a crisis because what I wanted to wear just wasn't looking right, or I felt puffy. I just wasn't getting dressed and feeling super confident and able to strut my stuff.

I decided to share this with you for a few reasons:

1) I know a lot about health, and how to help you with yours, AND I am not perfect.  Being in good health takes constant fine tuning and maintenance. I feel very fortunate that my work requires vigilance and continual experimentation with all things healthy!

2) While I like to emphasis the internal health benefits of cleansing, sometimes it's the external factors that are more likely to motivate us! Changes on the inside, produce results on the outside!

3) While belly bloating was a minor inconvenience for me, for others it can be intensely uncomfortable and debilitating. While it can be a symptom of a deeper significant health issue, there are some really simple and effective solutions!

So, I was inspired to share my Top 10 Causes of Gas and Bloating, products to help you with this condition and info about my last Virtual Essential Cleanse until the Fall.

1.Food allergies and sensitivities create inflammation. Your body will hold onto water to minimize the impact of foods which are essentially toxic to your system.

2. Yeast overgrowth-think about the role of yeast in bread- in makes rise.  The same thing happens in your gut if you have a yeast overgrowth.  Click here for a questionnaire and more info to see if your symptoms might be due to candida.

3. Low HCl-hydrochloric acid (HCl) is what starts the digestion process in your stomach.  The most common symptom of low HCl is bloating and gas right after eating.  Low HCl is also related to acid reflux, anemia and acne rosacea

4. Dysbiosis- is the term used for an improper balance of microbes in your gut. When you don't have enough of the good guys, and have an overgrowth of bad critters, fermentation (gas) and toxins are created. Cultured foods like sauerkraut and keifer or a good
probiotic can help.  You can also test to see what the ecology looks like in your intestines as well with a simple stool test.

5. Constipation- probably 80% of people I see suffer or need to manage chronic constipation (less than one bowel movement/day). Overtime constipation leads to a build-up of wastes and toxins in the intestines that release gas that contributes to bloating. Constipation is not good for many many reasons and fortunately there are lots of natural solutions for it.

6. Specific Foods- Some foods can irritate the system, or are difficult for some people to digest thus cause gas and bloating. Some examples are hot and spicy foods, salt, foods with additives and preservatives, junk food, foods with substances that aren't meant to be absorbed like sorbitol, and cruciferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage).  Sometimes raw foods can be more difficult for some to digest, so lightly cooking your veggies can help.

7. Sugar, beer, bread-feeds the yeast and imbalanced microbes and a by-product of feeding them is gas. See #2!

8. Insufficient chewing/swallowing air/eating too quickly

9. Poor food combining-Food combining is based on the theory that different food groups require different digestion times and enzymes. Fruit digests quickly, so a good rule of thumb is to eat fruits alone or at the beginning of a meal.
Here is a chart that I like a lot.

10. Infection-bacteria or parasites can cause gas and bloating. A functional comprehensive microbiology/parasitology test can help you identify unwanted critters.

A final note: If you are a woman and have long term bloating, without digestive symptoms, that doesn't seem to be relieved by anything, please be sure to have a thorough pelvic exam as it could indicate a more significant gynecological issue.

Last Cleanse of the Summer!

articholke!

I commonly get feedback from cleansers that their digestion improved significantly, their tummies got flatter and gas and bloating decreased significantly as a result of going through the Essential Cleanse program.

This is because a good cleanse helps you to
cut out crappy foods, clean out the colon, identify and remove food allergens, support your liver detox pathways, restore balance to the intestinal ecology and support healthy elimination with good fiber and probiotics. All of these elements will help to decrease gas and bloating.

The Virtual Essential Cleanse Program has a new format with 4 teleclasses for your educational pleasure!

Join us!

In an effort to provide YOU with even more supportive info at a gentler pace with more space for dialogue, Q&A and sharing,  I have divided the class formerly known as
