MARVELOUS MONDAYS

May 7, 2012 - Issue 172

Happiness

In the last issue (click here for issue 171) we discussed suppressed happiness as the 5th regret.  Today we will begin a series on happiness. I acknowledge Richard Carlson, PH.D, in his book "You Can Be Happy No Matter What" as the source for this issue.

Dear ,

Please feel free to forward "Marvelous Mondays" to others who will enjoy it.

THE 5 CHARACTERISTICS OF HAPPINESS

Here are 5 feelings that are associated with happiness:

1.   Gratitude

2.   Inner Peace

3.   Satisfaction

4.   Affection for Ourselves

5.   Affection for Others

THE 7 BENEFITS OF HAPPINESS

When you are happy (joyful) you will enjoy these benefits.

1.   Less tendency to be REACTIVE.

2.   Less tendency to be DEFENSIVE.

3.   Less tendency to be CRITICAL.

4.   You make BETTER DECISIONS.

5.   You COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY.

6.   You can access your WISDOM.

7.   You can access your COMMON SENSE.

EXERCISE

This week I invite you to do the following:

1.   Observe a situation when you don't feel happy.

2.    Look at the 7 Benefits of Happiness.  Can you identify which of the 7 Benefits you were not able to enjoy or access?

3.   Then let a day or so pass and review the same situation that had occurred. Do you now see how you limited or upset yourself unnecessarily?

I look forward to hearing from you. I will listen to you
