SUPPRESSED HAPPINESS

We have been discussing Bronnie Ware's book entitled, "The Top Five Regrets of the Dying: A Life Transformed by the Dearly Departing." The fifth most common regret stated by her patients is "not letting myself be happier."  Here's what the patients said.

1.   Faked It. They pretended to themselves and others to be content and tolerated situations in their life.

2.   Fear of Change. That's why they faked it. They stayed with old patterns and habits, fearing to move out of their comfort zones.

3.   Impact. This caused a huge impact on their emotional and physical health.

4.   Laugh & be Silly. The patients all said they had stifled their silliness and playfulness and should've laughed more.

HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE

Not until the end did the patients realize that happiness was a choice which they chose to suppress.

EXERCISE

This week I invite you to reflect on the following:

1.   Have you been tolerating or pretending to be content and happy? Look at your relationships, your career, your boss, your staff, your company, your physical environment, your finances, your spending habits or the spending habits of others.

2.   Why have you been "content" to be stuck in this comfort zone?

3.   What do you fear about change?

4.   What conversation or confrontation do you fear?

5.   Do you really believe you are entitled to be happy and playful?

I regularly assist people by helping them see they have choices for (1) moving out of comfort zones, (2) facing their fear of change, and (3) claiming the happiness they deserve. Just email or call me and we can get started. It is your happiness. You are worth the investment in yourself!

I really look forward to hearing from you, and I will listen to you!
