In the spiritual family that birthed out movement there's a saying that has circulated for years--"The Bible, the whole Bible and nothing but the Bible." It sticks because of its similarity to the oath when one gives testimony--"I will tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God."
Our last e-newsletter, visited Neil Cole's article about
keeping heresy out of the movement. In essence, the thesis was to raise the bar on disciples--and their intake of the Scripture--and the Lord through His Word will guide His sheep. He obviously refers to
Life Transformation Groups in that article because that is the base level tool we encourage for discipleship...and it sure raises the bar!
In the tools section below, we wanted to highlight a couple of other tools that we have to resource the movement to know and live the Bible. Also don't miss the intriguing article by our Greenhouse Trainer Traver Dougherty on "To Network or Not to Network?"
At the same time we like the saying about the Bible, we remember Jesus' comment to the religious leaders, "You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by
them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have
life." (John 5:39-40 NIV)
Jesus held in balance knowing the Scriptures and knowing Him. May we hold those things in balance as well!
