"Reputation is what men and women think of us; character is what God and angels know of us."
                             Thomas Paine
Greetings!
Happy New Year! It is 2011 and that time of the year
when people make new year's resolutions that often focus on exercise and weight loss. While most of us could benefit from commitments in these areas, it is a great time to investigate spiritual commitments to God. In the annual Prescott Christmas letter that we sent to friends and family far away, I recommended a book that continues to make a big impact on me. Radical by David Platt has challenged me to focus on some basic things that I have always known about and while I want to encourage you to read it for yourself, let me challenge you with five elements that he dares us to do over the next year.
  1. pray for the entire world
  2. read through the entire Bible
  3. sacrifice your money for a specific purpose
  4. spend your time in another context
  5. commit your life to a multiplying community

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Are you satisfied with your life? Most of us would answer a resounding no. Yet, we often fail to make the necessary changes in our life to achieve a different result. I hope you will join me in making a difference in your life in 2011.  Pastor Glenn

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Update
Our annual offering to support all of our IMB missionaries is currently at $15,217.75. Our goal is $20,000 and it's not too late to contribute.
The Sound of Hope
asanteWe hope you will be with us on Wednesday, Jan 5, at 7 pm, as we share the music and dance with the Asante Children's Choir of Rwanda, East Africa. The 24 children and their 8 adult chaperones will be our guests. Bring a friend and arrive early for good seats.
Mission Week at TBC: Jan 12-16
vet
Our ministry in the Horn of Africa began in the mid 90's and was made official with our covenant to minister to one of the most unreached people groups in the world about six years ago. Many new faces have joined the TBC family and it is time to get everyone up to speed.

During our recent Prayer Summit, we met two new friends that share our passion for the Horn of Africa. We have invited them back to share from their face to face ministry with our people group. A variety of opportunities have been planned beginning with dinner on Wed, Jan 12th, at 5:30 pm.

Our friends will be participating during Wed evening services, sharing in our men's ministry, women's ministry, with our two growth groups and our youth. We will also have potluck dinners on Friday and Saturday nights. If you have not signed up for one of the dinners, click here to let us know which night you would like to participate.

It is our hope that you will begin praying for what God is asking of you as TBC prepares for the next chapter in our ministry with the Horn of Africa.
Thanks Again
beth
The holidays are over, but we cannot forget the memories created each year during our Christmas Musical. This year was no different. We again say thanks to Beth, the choir, the orchestra, the actors, and all the behind the scenes folks who made all of this possible.

We never cease to marvel and the freshness of the ancient story of the birth of our Savior. Pray for the seeds sown in the hearts of those who may have heard God's love for them that they will begin to grow. Also pray for the next person God brings into their life to water and the one who will ultimately bring in the harvest.

Also a big thanks goes to Paul & Ann Smith for all their hard work in organizing the transformation of our facilities during the holidays. Many others helped them in this endeavor and we are grateful to all.
Tuesday Lunch Club
The first meeting of the new year for our senior adults will be Tuesday, Jan 11, beginning at 11:30. Bring your potluck dish and your ideas for the new year. We know some of you have never attended, so we invite you to a wonderful time of food and fellowship as we plan for the coming year.
Many Thanks!
Gilead

We say thanks to Cecile Djafar for all of her wonderful craft creations and thanks to all of you who made purchases during the holiday craft fair. Cecile's hard work and your generous participation raised $1227 for the Gilead House ministry.

Urgent Ministry Opportunity
We want to invite you to a ministry that is open to any of our regular members or attenders of TBC. Every Sunday morning when people enter the sanctuary, the first person they meet is a smiling face offering them a bulletin and welcoming them to church. This group also assists by taking our offering. Our ushers are set up on a rotating basis and teamed up with a group to accommodate any time they are away from church. We invite you to join this important face of TBC by responding with an email to Pastor Glenn.

Word of Encouragement
"Men of Israel, consider carefully what you intend to do to these men. Some time ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing. After him, Judas the Galilean appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered. Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God."
                                                                                                                                           Acts 5:35-39
