BOOK REVIEW: THE FIVE LEVELS OF LEADERSHIP
The five levels of leadership, as defined by John C. Maxwell, an internationally recognized author and speaker, are:

5.    Pinnacle
Leadership

In his book, Five Levels of Leadership: Proven Steps to Maximize Your Potential, he offers guidance on raising effectiveness and improving leadership performance. He identifies the qualities of former UCLA coach John Wooden that make him a level-5 leader. Through a series of examples and analysis, Maxwell acknowledges that true leaders understand that listening and learning are imperative steps before leading.

Greetings!

The Green Bay Packers are a self-described "draft and develop" team - a proven, successful philosophy when paired with a dedicated coaching staff, hard-working and motivated players, and a clear direction. Developing players into invaluable pieces of the Packers' puzzle is a major responsibility of the coaching staff; those coaches play a pivotal role in the players' personal progress and that of the team.

Now, substitute employees for players and upper management for the coaching staff. Does the same rule apply? The answer is yes. Providing coaching, development, and a clear direction of where a company is going is a proven path for success. It allows employees to learn under someone who knows the ropes and furthermore, someone that will ultimately hold them accountable for their performance and progress.

At Seals/Biehle, we are committed to employing the most qualified, passionate and motivated team members and providing them with opportunities to grow and develop. Under the tutelage of our management, our employees are encouraged to enrich their professional experience and prosper. This philosophy was gleaned from the saying "success leaves footprints" so why recreate the wheel? Follow and learn from someone - a teacher, boss, mentor, or parent - who is willing to pass on their experience and knowledge, and be accountable for your absorption and application.

Sincerely,

Matt Seals
