Greetings!
Welcome to the New Year and the new face of business! After all, it's changed over the course of the years and 2011 was no exception. Increased competition, shrinking markets, and customers who are calling for more information and more service, are all factors that propel us to do more with less, and get better results from limited resources. What we are dealing with today is the "new normal." People often fond for the good old days, but it's time to face the fact that life doesn't operate on a counterclockwise setting - moving forward and adapting is not only positive, but necessary. Whether you're a small business or one of the big guys, the economics are the same. It's important to work within the confines of a highly intelligent, lean staff that is motivated to give it one hundred percent day in and day out. By hiring well-qualified, motivated individuals, you reap more than a return on investment, you reap a return on energy. Keeping employees happy and emotionally content will inadvertently effect their contribution to the company in a positive way. While it seems obvious, treating employees with respect, listening to their needs and giving compliments and words of encouragement whenever possible are the keys to a return on energy!
Happy New Year! I hope 2012 brings you wonderful contributions.
Sincerely,
Matt Seals

FLASHBACK: SAINT AGNES MEDICAL CENTER'S NORTH WING EXPANSION
Ten years ago this month, Seals/Biehle was breaking ground on the 230,000 square foot, six-story Cardiac Wing at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno. The expansion featured 100 private patient rooms, five cardiac catheterization labs, six cardiovascular surgical suites, three interventional radiology rooms and a 16-bed chest-pain unit. Other improvements included a dedicated cardiac intensive-care unit, expanded outpatient center, emergency department, cardiac rehab, imaging services, and a 20,000-square-foot medical education center with a 272-seat auditorium. Simultaneously while breaking ground on the North Wing, Seals/Biehle was well into construction on the test catheterization recovery lab and the St. Agnes parking structure. The cath lab consisted of a new two-story building addition with a loading dock to the south side of the existing main hospital building, and the parking structure was a three-level, cast-in-place concrete structure spanning the length of almost 470 feet and measures 198 feet wide.

SEALS/BIEHLE STAFF SERVE AT VISALIA RESCUE MISSION
On December 23rd, the Seals/Biehle staff volunteered at the Visalia Rescue Mission, serving meals to members of the community in need. The three hours spent serving lunch, helped feed hundreds of individuals and families as they celebrated the Christmas season. It was an incredible day with live music, families sharing a meal and everyone remembering the reason for the season.
