Greetings!
7:45 this past Saturday morning my business phone rang. I thought it might be my husband letting me know that his 8:00 am flight was leaving on time. Rather it was a customer calling (yes, if I choose to pick up the phone or answer an email I am "open") to give his credit card information, on a sale that I knew was "sealed" but simply needed to be finalized with payment. What a great way to start a day! |
Finding Us/Believing in Us
And so, as I tended to the am feeding of my 6 golden retrievers (one of which is a mother of 6 2 week old pups, and thus gets priority) I chatted away with this new customer that just happened upon our site last week as he pursued online options to compare to what he had found in brick and mortars near his Rhode Island home. He made mention of how visible we were (in particular on free listings) when he Googled Chinese Antique Furniture. Yeah for us in figuring out how to have people find our store front AND keeping it on the first page. In discussing the comfort zone he needed to make such a significant online purchase he made mention of visiting our Testimonial section which, after reading, his sense of uneasiness buying online was quelled by what our customers are saying about their purchases. Pleased as punch that my past customers continue to be of such great service to the growth of my business (Thank you again!) and that as of today I have the opportunity to add this gentleman and his wife (and his decorator) to our list of past customers which is 1,300 plus strong. |
Looking Back/Moving Forward
We talked further but you get the gist. With all the hubbub of the Holiday Season it was so timely for me to have this opportunity to be pulled back and recall from whence we came and that the hard part is behind me. That hard part of starting a business, with so many unknowns, with not much more than a belief that you won't know if it works but try try you must. That part where you simply put yourself out there and people trust you and you are given opportunity after opportunity to encourage further trust, and well, take it from there, literally one sale at a time. It is still one sale at a time, but I have to say that, yes, it is so nice to be on this side of a business. Beyond the starting but rather entrenched in the growing and nurturing. Building on a stolid base, confident of what you can do because you already have. Having so many venues to capture the attention of those seeking the highly personal and treasured purchase of an antique, that which we offer through Antiques by Zaar. No doubt, the sky is indeed the limit, and my Saturday morning chat with a new customer helped remind me of just that.

Merry Christmas to Me
My 3 children, my raison d'être, are all home from college. I have had the joy of participating in a Christmas concert with my chorale, and similarly hosting the post concert party in our home. We have a healthy litter of thriving puppies which will be spreading their joy to other families. My family is intact, my business is alive and well. I have repeatedly received the gift of friendship, through old relationships rekindled and new ones fostered; such that has humbled, delighted and fueled me forward. |
We are daily faced with challenges to remind ourselves of this, in particular with the pervasive tone shoved down our throats via the media. We must remain strong in the belief that each of us on our own can make a positive difference that affects the collective well being of our communities and our world. We must continue to believe in and strive for our bright future. |
Have a Merry Merry Christmas !!!
From our Home to Yours, we wish you Peace, Joy, and Love that we are all called to, not only for this Season, but for Always.
Ruth, for the Olbrych family, Mark and Ruth Zach, Ari, and Avery
