|"We Pledge to Walk Together..."||
Volume 1, No. 7, May 24, 2012
You may have heard that the Chinese character for "crisis" contains the symbols for both "danger" and "possibility." Let's emphasize the possibilities. This is a time that calls you, as a congregation, to come together in a spirit of help and kinship to work out what is best for your future. This is a time that will call on each of you to bring to the table the best of your creativity, kindness, practicality, leadership, hope, and vision.
You are much in my prayers during your time of discernment. Every day I pray that life, light, health, and hope break through for each member and friend of Unity Church - past, present, and future. And each day I also pray that light, life, health, and hope break through for the church as whole. May grace surround you - each of you and all of you.
If you have a prayer life and feel so moved, please join me in that prayer for your congregational health and vitality. And please remember, in times of stress, to practice what member Kate Haven calls "exquisite self-care."

|New Unity Church Survey on Ministries
Dear Members and Friends of Unity Church,
Unity Church is conducting a survey of its various ministries. The information collected will be invaluable in helping Unity to assess its strengths, identify areas to develop, and to chart a course for goal-setting and growth so that Unity Church can provide its fullest support to the congregation as a whole.
Your input is vital. This survey is a mechanism for you to describe your feelings and beliefs in the following areas:
- Congregational and Denominational Activities
- Beliefs and Attitudes about Spiritual Life
- Religion and Religious Practices Views on Worship Services
- Views on Professional Ministry
Many of the questions in this survey are similar or mirror questions used in the survey conducted in October 2007 in connection to the ministerial search. Gathering this information again and comparing the results to the October 2007 survey will shed light on how Unity Church may have changed over the past 4-1/2 years.
All members and friends of Unity Church are encouraged to complete their own survey. Our goal is to have maximum participation.
The online survey will be sent out within the next few days to everyone on our church contact list, and hard copies of the survey will also be available in the sanctuary and Parish Hall and can be returned to Unity Church, attention Committee on Ministry.
The survey will be absolutely confidential. When you complete the online survey, it will return to us with an email address of "Anonymous". The demographic information at the end of the survey will help us understand the make-up of our current congregation.
Please be sure to complete and return the survey no later than June 9, 2012.
If you have any questions, please contact any of us on the Committee on Ministry. Thank you in advance for participating in the survey.

|Mark your Calendars for our Annual June Jubilee and Flower Communion on Sunday, June 10, 2012!
Mark your calendar. Set your reminder. Pick your Flower. Sunday June 10, 2012, our 10:30 am Sunday Service will be held outside at Queset Garden, behind the Ames Free Library, for our annual June Jubilee and Flower Communion!
The United Brass accompanies this service, during which our flowers are made into one bouquet. Each person then takes a flower home at the end of the service. Flowers may come from your garden or purchased from a floral shop.
After the service we can stay on the grounds until 2 pm. Everyone is encouraged to bring folding chairs or blankets, their own lunch to eat, a dessert to share, and yard games to play.
Queset Garden is behind the library at 53 Main Street, North Easton, MA 02356. Entering from Main St, onto the main driveway, bear left at the fork in the road and park in the designated spots, if that fills up park back on Main St.
If it rains that day, the service will be held at Unity Church with United Brass playing inside. Even if it does rain, everyone is encouraged to bring their own lunch to eat, a dessert to share, and yard games to play.
If you have questions, please contact Cheryl Brigante at 508-409-8386 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

|Our Summer Services
This summer Unity Church has something new! We have seven Sundays without Rev. Tess, and we have seven principles. This was too perfect a match to pass up, so during this summer let's celebrate our Seven Principles.
The Worship Committee is so excited to try this more intimate, slightly shorter, hopefully cooler, Sunday Worship with you! This is a great way to become more familiar with the principles if you are new to our Faith, or to return to the roots if you've been here a while.
How will it work? Click here to read more...
Want to Ride Your Bike to Church?
Now you have a place to park it! Thanks to two anonymous donors, we have a new bike rack behind Parish Hall.
|Staff **Still** Needed for the ...|
This event will be open to the public, serve just the basics, charge only for the cost of the food, and get everyone out in time to head up to Boston for the Pride Parade, which begins at Noon.
Anyone interested in cooking, attending the food stations, set up, or cleanup, or if you have questions or suggestions, please contact Cathy Adler at email@example.com or 508-243-6679.
Options for Getting to PrideRegardless of whether or not you attend or help with the breakfast, ALL are welcome to join us in Boston for the parade!
One way to get to the parade is to join the All Souls UU coalition on their bus, and march behind their banner. Click here for details.
Another is to take the MBTA train from Stoughton, Canton, Sharon, or Mansfield and just find a contingent with whom you want to walk, or bring a chair and sit on the side of the road and watch - it is always very moving and entertaining!
Either way, we hope to see a nice Easton (and surroundings) presence there!
|2 Volunteers Needed for the Nursery

Lumi Needs a Temporary Home
My name is Lumi (the Finnish word for SNOW) and I am two years old. My master is in transition, and I need a loving home near Providence where I can stay for the next year. My master will visit and, most importantly, will cover all of my living expenses. I am extremely loving and affectionate, and good with children and other cats.
You should know in advance that I am strictly an indoor cat and have all my vaccines. Soon I will also have an identity chip in case I wander..
Thank you in advance for your act of kindness, and I know we will be fast friends. If you are interested, please contact Rodrigo at 786-390-9046 or Wilbury7@gmail.com
Need an Extra Pair of Hands?
Feel like you don't have enough hands to tackle your "To Do" list? Need help babysitting, gardening, cleaning, cooking, baking, or shopping? Call Paige Brigante for an extra set of hands. Pay what you can to help a college student fund an educational trip to India, or simply enjoy the generous help of a fellow UU!

|Spoken Announcements in Worship
Years ago, Unity Church decided on spoken announcements during coffee hour. However, we heard that this now doesn't work, for a few reasons; people talk during them, people want social hour to be just for socializing and not church business, etc.
So, the Worship Committee proposed a new process that the Executive Committee endorsed. Starting in April, we will make these changes:
- After the Prelude and before the bell ringing, one person, hopefully from the Executive Committee, will make all the announcements.
- Anyone who wants a spoken announcement made, please submit it to Gail by the preceding Friday at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will leave a copy on the podium in the Sanctuary to be read aloud.
- To keep things short, please limit the announcement to 30 words. The contact person will be asked to rise or raise a hand so people know who to ask for further information, go to for fliers, etc.
|A Note on A View From the Pew|In keeping with this year's theme of sources and spiritual practice, we invite you to share your journey in a brief, 2-3 minute, View From the Pew during worship. You could talk about a spiritual practice you perform, what it is and how it makes you feel. To schedule a time to share your view, please contact Rev. Tess Baumberger at email@example.com / 508-238-1131 .
