News from Evangelist Mike Gendron
August  2012
Greetings in the Name of Our All-Sufficient Savior,

If I asked you what are the major differences between biblical Christianity and Roman Catholicism, what would you say? The answer we hear most often is "the adoration and role of Mary in the Catholic Church." While this is significant, there are several more gravely consequential differences that divide the two faiths. Catholics submit to a different authority, worship a different Jesus, believe a different Gospel and, as a result, travel on a different path to eternity (Mat. 7:13-14). People who preach or believe another gospel are not biblical Christians; they remain under the condemnation of God until they repent and believe the true Gospel (Gal. 1:6-9; 1 Cor. 15:1-4).

Evangelicals that allege Roman Catholicism is a valid expression of Christianity are not only blatantly wrong, they are also discouraging anyone from evangelizing its members. Have they forgotten the Reformers who were brutally tortured and savagely burned at the stake for refusing to submit to the authority of Rome and embrace its false gospel? It was Paul's great fear that we would put up with counterfeit Christians who preach another Jesus and another gospel (2 Cor. 11:4).

While there may be some Christians in the Catholic Church, the Spirit of Truth will eventually set them free from the bondage of religious deception as they abide in the Word of God (John 8:31-32). Evangelicals can expedite this process by being obedient to the Great Commission and making disciples of them, teaching them to observe all that our Lord commands (Mat. 28:18-20). To view a short video clip of Dr. Dave Reagan and Mike Gendron discussing differences between the two faiths click here.
Exposing the Vatican-Islam Alliance
The Vatican hailed the decision to grant special status to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem a "diplomatic victory" for the Palestinian Authority. The United Nations approved the Palestinian bid to place Jesus' birthplace on its list of sites of World Heritage in danger. Israel called the decision "absurd" and "a sad day." The Palestinian agenda is the de-Judaization of the land of Israel by Islamicizing the holy sites. Vatican institutions are collaborating with the Palestinian autocracy. The Vatican already declared its support of waving a Palestinian flag over the Temple Mount in ancient Jerusalem. Next in line is Rachel's Tomb near Bethlehem, Judaism's third most holy site. Read more.
Apparitions of Mary in Alabama?
mary
The Bible warns us that Satan will use lying signs and wonders to deceive the world (2 Thes. 2:9). Some of his lying wonders that are growing in frequency are apparitions of Mary. Now there are reports of apparitions of Mary appearing near a statue under a pine tree in the middle of a cow pasture in rural Alabama. Could this become an official pilgrimage site of the Roman Catholic Church? Yes, it could, said Michael Murphy, chairman of the anthropology department at the University of Alabama who has specialized in studying the role of Virgin Mary apparitions. Marija Lunetti, the visionary who has been reporting daily visions of the Virgin Mary since she was a teenager in Medjugorje, Yugoslavia, had two apparitions in Shelby County, Ala., during a highly publicized "five days of prayer" July 1-5. From Darkness to Light
While we were in Europe last month, VCY America did a rebroadcast of an interview with me. I joyously gave the testimony of God's grace in delivering me out of the spiritual darkness of Roman Catholicism. The program generated hundreds of letters, e-mails and phone calls requesting resources for sharing the Gospel with Catholics. Responding to the requests has been a labor of love! What a joy it has been to minister to so many people who have a heart for the lost. One of the calls was from a devout Catholic. She said she was very moved by the program and wanted more information. After talking with her for about 25 minutes, she asked me where she could find a good church that taught the Bible because she did not want to be deceived any longer. Hear the interview.
Christian Music Has Ecumenical Tone
Lifest, a Christian music festival celebrating its 14th anniversary drew more than 15,000 visitors to the Sunnyview Expo Center in Oshkosh, WI. Attendees were able to chose between three worship services, including a Catholic Mass with Bishop David Ricken. He officially approves of the Marian Apparitions at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in northern Wisconsin. The apparition appeared saying, "I am the Queen of Heaven." This clearly identifies the apparition as a "lying sign and wonder" of Satan since the only Queen of Heaven in Scripture is an idolatrous goddess that was condemned by the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 7:18). On hand were popular CCM groups such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Casting Crowns, Switchfoot, Newsboys, Underoath, Building 429 and Norma Jean. Enthusiastic fans celebrated ecumenical unity through the sensual power of rock and roll.  Letters from Around the World

Mr. Gendron, When are you going to apologize for the "hateful misrepresentations" you have broadcast about the Catholic Church? The picture you draw of the Catholic Church - and by extension, Catholics - is almost entirely something you have made up. The quote you gave of  Father John O'Brien from his book Faith of Millions was accurate. However he was speaking poetically when he wrote: "When the priest announces the words of consecration, he reaches up into the heavens, brings Christ down from His throne, and places Him upon our altar to be offered up again as the Victim for the sins of man. It is a power greater than that of saints and angels. The priest speaks and lo! Christ, the eternal and omnipotent God, bows his head in humble obedience to the priest's command."  Just because his book has the Nihil Obstat and Imprimatur does not mean that every statement in the book is an exact Catholic teaching. Fr. O'Brien was saying the priest is consecrated to do a special job. I could recite the words of consecration till I turned blue, but nothing would happen.  I feel sorry for you, but I feel even more sorry for the people you entice out of the Church. I will continue to pray for them and for you. Bonnie S., Ex-Protestant, Blessed Catholic for 36 years

Dear Bonnie, Did you know Fr John O'Brien personally or are you trying to defend his heretical teaching by claiming to know how he was speaking. Perhaps you would allow God's Word to speak to you. "He (Jesus), having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God...by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy...and where these [sins] have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin" (Hebrews 10:12,14,18). For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; nor was it that He should offer Himself often (Heb. 9:24-25). I plead with you to trust Jesus, the perfect high priest who offered Himself once as the one perfect sacrifice to the one perfect God who demands perfection.

Mike, Your article last month really tugged at my heart. A hateful spirit has indeed taken root in the body of Christ, turning what should be overabundant love for one another (1 John 4:7) into a battle of ego and pride. Believers are displaying some of the most grossly egregious behavior imaginable - all in public on the Internet in its various mediums, and all in the presence of unbelievers. All the things we are told in Scripture to "put aside" (Col 3:8-9, James 1:21, 1 Peter 2:1), we are instead - to our shame "putting on."  The Lord said of Israel that His Name was blasphemed among the Gentiles because of the Jews' behavior (Rom. 2:24). The same can be said said today, His Name is being blasphemed when unbelievers see our arrogance, vitriol and pride!!! I've withdrawn from the online "communities" I used to participate in because people refuse to listen to one another in humility and submit themselves to a careful study of the word in disputable areas. If we don't watch ourselves, history will repeat itself. John MacArthur opened my eyes to the tragedy of Christian history in a sermon he preached on baptism last fall. I wept as I listened to his sermon, horrified at what was being done one to another in the name of Christ. Thank you for your timely call for us to humble ourselves and repent! I agree wholeheartedly, lost souls are at stake, and our testimony before these precious people must be unmarred, so that they may come to know the Lord as we do. May God grant us that repentance and true unity, so more may be saved! If not, our salt will become worthless. C. B., Middleport, NY

Mike, I have so enjoyed your ministry which has encouraged me to begin an outreach to my Catholic family and others along the way. I'm thankful for the clarity which God has given you in expressing things. Last month's article about different understandings of doctrine was so well expressed. In Christ, P.C., Franklin, TN

Mike, Thank you so much for your article of speaking the truth in love in the last issue.  What perfect timing!  This is something that we have been struggling with.  We have been blinded in the past by this sin of not always loving our brothers and sisters over doctrinal issues.  We were often prideful with the knowledge which God had given us.  I am sure many times we were just a noisy gong because we did not have love.  May God continue to show us our sins and grant us repentance for His glory and our good.  And may God continue to speak through you as you continue to present His truth with compassion, love and humility. G. and N. B., Tinley Park, IL
Remembering the Reformation

John Knox was a 16th century Scottish clergyman and a leader of the Protestant Reformation. In 1536 He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood. After his conversion to the Lord Jesus Christ, he preached his first sermon on the seventh chapter of Daniel, comparing the Pope with the Antichrist. In his message, he presented two key biblical doctrines that would be the foundation of his ministry: justification by faith alone and the supreme authority of Scripture. A few days later, during a public debate, he rejected the Mass, Purgatory, and prayers for the dead. Knox was notable for the overthrow of Roman Catholicism in Scotland, and for assuring the replacement of the papal religion with Presbyterianism rather than Anglicanism. Read more.

An Opportunity for a Nun to Prepare for Eternity
I became reacquainted with my former grade school principal, an 87-year old Catholic nun, who had a profound impact on me as a young Catholic. After being saved at the age of 42, God has turned the tables just a bit and now I find myself giving her spiritual guidance...very ironic. God has given me a tremendous burden for her soul and has opened a door for me to share your book Preparing For Eternity. She is planning a retreat with the theme of divine forgiveness. I told her I'd like to give her the book as a birthday gift and she seemed very interested when hearing the title. I hope you'll be encouraged to see how God is using your book. I am so grateful to Him for your ministry to Catholics. He has used you mightily over the years to encourage me in my witness to Catholics. Your teaching series on DVD has served to be an enormous encouragement to me as well!!! Blessings, D.C., Manchester, MO
The Importance of Good Gospel Tracts
Very few Christians realize the importance of giving away biblically sound Gospel tracts. It is an effective way of objectively presenting the truth of God's Word and the sufficiency of Jesus Christ. Witnessing with Gospel tracts also offers some powerful advantages that Christians may not know. Click here to see them.

The ministry of Proclaiming the Gospel encourages every Christian to be a devoted ambassador of Jesus Christ and deliver His glorious message of grace to those who are perishing. We are offering an Ambassador Pack of five different tracts at a special price for those who accept the challenge. Click here for the offer.
The Dismal State of our Nation
My good friend Bill Perkins of Compass International provides the answer to the question about the dismal state of our nation. He said, "We shouldn't be surprised to see our economy in shambles, our cities going bankrupt, horrendous crime rampant in both our government and on our streets, or even that our children are killing each other in movie theaters. We are simply reaping what we have sown" (2 Cor. 9:6). Bill also provides the answer to the question, "How can we stop mad men from walking into a theater and killing people?" His solution has proven to be very effective in other countries. He said, "Many believe the answer is more gun control. Yet, Israel has no 'gun control' and very few problems with citizens getting shot. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Guns are not the problem, people are the problem. If a gunman stood up in a movie theater in Israel and started shooting, he would maybe get off one or two shots before being gunned down by almost everyone else in the room."
Please pray for spiritual and physical protection! Let us know how we can serve you and pray for you,
