Introducing Gianluca Vidal's work to Houston!

Gianluca Vidal started working in glass at the age of 14 on the Isle of Murano in Venice. His teachers were some of the most famous Glass Maestros of Murano.
For a limited time, Hanson Galleries has the unique opportunity to show a selection of new work by this young glass master. We were able to obtain special prices which will be from 30% to 50% off of retail. Each location will show different work. Click here to see entire offering. |

South Texas Mesquite burlwood
Accent table, chair and lamp
One of our favorite Texas artists, Benito Loera, brought us this wonderful grouping for the new store. The table measures 36"x17"x33" high and can be used as a desk or hall table. The chair is generous-sized and has a real buffalo hide seat. The lamp sports a handpainted copper shade. Each piece is sold separately or there is a savings on the chair and desk together.
The inlay is purple mojave turquoise, abalone and copper nuggets. The desk has checkerboard sides and a drawer. Click here to see Benito's others work in stock. |

From accident to artifact
Mixed media horse
Texas artist, Cathy Crain, told us that as she was making this ceramic horse she knocked it over and broke off its legs. With sadness, she put it aside. A couple of days later Cathy was looking through a book "Imperial China: The Art of the Horse in Chinese History."
Suddenly the solution came to her....artifact! She sculpted it, burnished it, glazed it...creating a stylized clean look with a feeling of antiquity.
Her son custom made the stand of enamel coated steel. This truly one-of-a-kind artpiece is at the Post Oak location. Her other horses can be seen at both locations. See the ones we currently have in stock by clicking here. |

Rosewood shaving brush
A flash from the past
Proudly made in the US, this shaving brush is a rarity! Our new artist makes these from cocobolo or bocote. She uses a Gillette Mach III head and AAA-quailty badger hair, used for centuries in fine shaving brushes.
It comes with a custom made stand and we've thrown in special shea butter shaving soap to round out the gift. |

"Year of the Dragon" continues
"The Great Book of Dragon Names"

For all those dragons looking for baby names in this special Year of the Dragon, or for others looking to remember and honor favorite dragons in myth, story, movie, games and more...I've created this book with alphabetized Dragon names.....451 at last count.
Wendy
Mixed media dragon is created with hand worked and hand painted leather and hand cast paper. Other of her dragons in stock at our Post Oak location are a smaller dragon story book for children and small desk top friends.
This remarkable artist has been an active member of the fine craft community as a mixed media and leather artisan for over forty years. During this Father's Day month it is warming to know that major inspiration for her work came from a dad who was a great storyteller and parents who always encouraged their children to stretch their imaginations.
Keep flying in your dreams, Wendy, we need more of you!!!
