Murano Glass Showing Opens
featuring the latest work of
Afro Celotto
If you haven 't stopped by to see the stunning Afro Celotto artwork, plan to fit it in your schedule. Since his early years Afro has been producing some of the world's most beautiful art glass.
Afro Celotto has exhibited, demonstrated and taught in many countries around the world. His work is widely collected and represented by many of the most prestigious art glass galleries in the world. We have never had this many pieces of the glassblowing maestro's work. It will be on display only through the end of the year.
Because of the world economy, he was forced to close his studio this summer. We are honored to be featuring a retrospective of his work in Houston. To see the 19 piece collection, click here.

Mary Lowe Trunk Shows
at both locations
Sat, Dec 5th noon-4pm
Memorial City Mall location
Sat, Dec 12th noon-4pm
Uptown Park location
Known for her Russian Princess necklaces, Mary will have several one-of-a-kind pieces for the trunk shows. Her work has become more intricate and her colors more sophisticated these past few months.
Mary uses vintage glass beads from turn-of-the-century Europe, and sometimes her own lampwork beads, to create these flattering pieces of wearable art. She learned to mend her father's fishnets at a very young age and incorporates that skill while working the coated copper wire. Freshwater pearls often add luster to the mix.
Come visit with her and see her latest work. Men...just know that the women love to wear this jewelry. She also does custom work for wedding parties and special events. Her vine bracelets are $40, earrings are $38 and she has made a selection of pins at $68 that look like little corsages. Other styles here.

Lampwork glass gifts
Using a blowtorch to melt glass rods into a piece is called lampworking. Shaping tools, hand movements and gravity all help form the melting glass into a new shape. We have several artists using the technique to make unusual, endearing gifts.
Joshua Mazet specializes in frogs, turtles and octopi on paperweights and pendants. Click on any picture once in the link to see the photo larger. See more here.
Shawn Tsai does dragonflies, frogs, octopi and these cute puffer fish. See some more of his work here.
Barbara Dillon's specialities are insects like her signature caterpillars, butterflies, dragonflies and bumble bees. See some of her pieces here.

Artist-designed jewelry
Our summer survey told us that our customers wanted to see more designed jewelry. We brought in many new pieces from new and previous artists as shown below.
Bonnie Blandford
Customers are happy that we brought this artist's work in again. She fabricates her mixed metal jewelry by fusing 24K gold to sterling silver using a mouth-held blowtorch. However she accomplishes the designs, they have met with good success. Click here to see some of her other styles. Uptown only.
C. H. Mackellar
C. H.'s core technique is fusing gold to sterling silver. This creates intricate surface patterns making them not only beautiful, but tactile. Bi-metal elements are used for contrast and punctuation as are colored pearls. See some of her work here. Uptown only.
Carolyn Zakarija
Carolyn originally is from London, but calls Pennsylvania home now. She gets her inspiration from architecture and her immediate environment. Her work is of sterling silver with gold-filled highlights and always is a sell-out. See more here. Memorial City only.
