Josh Simpson
Glassblower Josh Simpson is well know to our customers for his inhabited planet paperweights and marbles that we have sold for over two decades. He has now brought back a color that he first made in the 80's. It is the basis of his CORONA series. Photos taken by the Hubble telescope were the inspiration for this delicious coloring. The vibrant burst of color comes from his experiments of melting silver onto the surface of ruby glass.
An interview of Josh, including footage of his creating his signature work, can be seen on local public TV stations from time to time or we sell the CD's at Hanson Galleries. The film features interesting interviews which include his wife, Cadie Coleman. She is an astronaut that has been in space twice. As an interesting human interest note, Josh was making his famous planet series years before he met her. Doesn't that sound like a story line from a good novel? Click here for great photos of some of his other work that we have in stock right now.

Robin Evans brings decorative home excitement to the gallery
Her work includes wall mounted drama as well as table top pieces perfect for those art niches. She combines metal work with her vibrantly colorful slump glass pieces that have become her signature. Robin is very accommodating with your special color and size requirements and can make a piece for your express needs. Both locations have a showing of her work. This photo shows Uptown's display, but click here for a closer look. | |
