Rita McCleary of Morris  Plains, NJ shares her experience with "One-on-One Shop & Learn.

"My time with Janet was such a learning experience. She taught me how to set wardrobe goals before I set one foot in the store.

I purchased clothes in sizes I never thought I could wear. Everything I bought was versatile and coordinated, every piece fit into an overall plan that worked with what I already own.
Every piece had to 'earn' its' way into my closet.

Janet's number one concern was to teach me how to attain my own image goals.
I feel I have what I need to shop intelligently, no more fashion mistakes, no more 'orphans' in my closet.

I am confident when I get dressed. I know I have what I need to 'Look Damn Good.'

janet prof picYou haven't heard from me in a while. I, too, fell into the doom-and-gloom trap.
I was so down in the dumps that I couldn't even stand myself!

Then, there came a day, a moment, when a bright flicker appeared amidst my heavy thoughts that said, "Enough. Get over yourself."

It seems the best way to move out of the dark, the frozen and the bleak winter of yourself is to first notice, and then grab hold of the rising, rejuvenating, creating energy of spring and all its' promise. It is a choice.

'Look Damn Good Mondays'

Remember when 'Casual Friday' was new on the scene?

Well, great ideas have to start somewhere -- so I'm proposing 'Look Damn Good Mondays'©.

Let's pull out all the stops from head to toe, haircut to shoe polish. Nothing like getting the work week off to a damn good start!

For the Guys:  Put on a tie. Polish your shoes.  Iron your slacks. Dress to impress.

For the Ladies:  Make Monday a good hair day. Wear your best outfit, the one that makes you feel snappy. Go ahead and fuss over your make-up and accessories. Dress as if you were going out on a lunch date with someone from high school that you haven't seen in years.  That should do it.

Here's the deal:  If we each commit to taking the time and energy to look our best, and not just on Mondays, we will feel good.  When we all feel good, we do good. When we all DO good, we all help heal our part of the world.

No matter what is going on in our lives -- or in the life of our country -- we can always choose to look our best.

One size fits all and it is free for the choosing.

We choose our thoughts, we choose our attitudes, we choose how we present ourselves in the world. We have no idea how making those positive, affirming choices will ripple out and impact others.

Here's to 'Look Damn Good' Mondays©

Pass it along!
FAMILY
The Hunt is Almost Here!

EasterEggHuntEvery Easter, our family and friends get together to celebrate.

The Easter egg hunt for the kids and the sticky buns for all are two of the "must-haves" for the day.

The "graduate" hunters hide the eggs and the littlest hunters, poised for action, can't wait for Grandpa (my husband Bruce), The Hunt Master, to announce, "Let the hunt begin!"

The mad dash is on! Kids flying all over the back yard with the graduate hunters "helping" the little guys. We love it!

FOOD

Lemon Squares!

LemonSquaresHere's something to do with all the lemons you might be collecting - both real AND metaphorical.  Make Lemon Squares!

I had a friend, Kathy Rock, who made wonderful lemon squares. I think of her every time I pull out her recipe.

Kathy, a young mother of 5, lost her battle with cancer. What she never lost was her positive energy, enthusiasm and humor. She certainly collected her share of lemons, but decided to turn them into the best lemon squares I've ever tasted.

Great when served with a lovely cup of tea while cataloging all the good that is in your life.

LEMON SQUARES RECIPE

Preheat oven to 325.

Mix together until light and fluffy:
1 C. butter
½ C. confectioner's sugar

Stir in:
2 C. sifted flour

Press mixture into a 13" x 9" glass baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes. Next, in a blender at high speed, blend together for 1 minute:

4 eggs
1-1/2 C. granulated sugar
1/3 C. flour
1/3 C. fresh lemon juice
½ tsp. baking powder

Pull the dish out of the oven. Pour mixture over the shell and bake at 325 for additional 25 minutes. Loosen the edges with a sharp knife. Let cool. Dust the top with more confectioner's sugar. Cut into squares.

I wish you all, my dear readers, the joy of your own hunt for a new perspective, and for new ways to celebrate life... AND lemons!

Here's to living life dressed in your best self!

Warmly,
