Pastoral Letter from our Rector
David Harper has written a Pastoral Letter to our congregation. We hope you will take time to read this letter from our Rector. Copies will also be available in the lobby at the Vale Road Meeting Place this Sunday.

June 7, 2012

We've now been worshiping at Whole Word Fellowship for over three months. The generous love and gracious hospitality of that congregation and its leadership continues to amaze me. But we're still adjusting to being out of a building where we could do things easily and conveniently. The mid-afternoon worship time is difficult for some of us, not least for parents with young children. Others are struggling with a longer distance to travel. Worshiping in borrowed space is also costly for our worship and worship-related ministries, whose leaders don't have easily accessible storage for the things they need.

We're all coming to terms with this new situation in our own ways . . . (read more here)
St. Nicholas Orphanage Fundraiser
This Sunday, after the worship service St nicholas orphanage -close-up

A mission team goes out from COAA this summer to St. Nicholas Orphanage, Kenya. We can help ensure that the children of St. Nicholas Orphanage have the uniforms they are required to wear in order to attend school. Beautiful hand-crafted items from Kenya will be available in the lobby to purchase this Sunday, June 24. All proceeds from the sale will go towards uniforms for the children. You may also contribute directly by making a check payable to "COAA" with "St. Nicholas Uniforms" in the memo line.

Summer Kid's Church and Youth Alpha
Sundays during the Summer!

Kid's Church (ages 4 through rising 6th grade) and Youth Alpha (rising 7th through rising 10th grade) take place during the worship service on Sunday afternoons. After families find seats in the sanctuary, kids and teens go directly to their summer class, returning to the sanctuary in time for Communion. Kid's Church takes place in the Hearthstone Room* and Youth Alpha takes place in the Teacher's Lounge*, both of which are located in the Log Cabin building (which is next to the Sanctuary Building). We hope the children and teens can take part in this special summer time of learning and fun.

*The Hearthstone Room is located in the Log Cabin Building and is on the lower level. The entrance door faces the front sidewalk.
The Teacher's Lounge is best accessed from the Upper Parking Lot. Enter through the door with the sign "Whole Word Offices" and take an immediate right. Go through the glass double-doors, and the Teacher's Lounge is in the back of this room.

Individual Appointments

Receive an individual Theophostic Prayer Ministry appointment from two members of our trained team. You may schedule an appointment by emailing [email protected]. While you wait for our response and your appointment, you can prepare by reading the first three chapters of Healing Life's Hurts Through Theophostic Prayer, which can be read online or purchased at www.theophostic.com.

Training and Ministry Groups

You're welcome to join one of our training and ministry groups for men or women. Learn about Theophostic Prayer Ministry and receive ministry as you train. Understanding the process helps you go deeper and being part of a group makes regular, ongoing ministry more available. Lives are being transformed in our groups.

Women's groups are already underway but let us know if you would like to be put on a list for future groups by emailing Betsy Stalcup at [email protected].

Just need practice? If you trained before and just need to brush up on your skills, contact Cheryl Collins. A practice group meets in her home on Thursdays at 4:30 PM.

Student Ministry News

Altared:  A time of worship, teaching, small groups, games and dinner together, for rising 7th - 12th grade students. We meet most Sunday evenings, 6:00-8:30pm, beginning in the Fellowship Hall at Vale Road.

No Altared on Sun, June 24, as the leadership will be preparing for the Baltimore Mission Trip which departs on Monday morning. However, we'll all get together again on Sun, July 1 for  an evening of dinner, fun and a movie  (6:00-8:30pm). Check next week's Apostles News and your email for more details!

Bible Studies - Both the guys and girls Bible Studies will not meet on Wednesday, June 27, since the leaders will be away on the Baltimore mission trip.

Summer Camp in August for rising 7th - 9th grade students! Summer Camp at Camp Highroad will be held Aug 5-10, and could be the best week of your summer! Bring a friend to Camp, too, so they can enjoy a week of adventure (high ropes, canoeing, and more), worship, teachings, game time, and lots of friends. Registration deadline is Mon, July 23. Details and registration packets are available on our website.

Summer Sunday School Class for rising 7th through rising 10th grade students - A Youth Alpha Sunday School class is being offered for the summer during the church worship service for students who are rising 7th-rising 10th graders. Youth Alpha looks at questions many of us have, such as 'Who is Jesus?', 'Why did Jesus die?', and 'How & why should I read the Bible?'. Youth Alpha shares the same important elements as any Alpha course - food, worship, a talk, and small groups - except with a lot more fun and many more games! This is a great time to invite a friend who has wondered about faith in God or a friend who just doesn't get all that "God stuff".

Students meet in the Teacher's Lounge in the Log Cabin Building at the beginning of the worship service (3:30pm) and return to the service in time for Communion. The Teacher's Lounge may be accessed from the Upper Parking Lot. Enter the door with the sign "Whole Word Offices" and take an immediate right. Go through the glass double doors, and the class meets in the back of that room.

Just Some Reminders . . .

As we're settling into the space at Vale Road, please remember a few courtesies we can all use to help each other. Please leave the Lower Parking Lot available for persons who would have difficulty walking the hill from the Upper Parking Lot and for those who need to unload items for the service. Also, if you move items in the buildings (chairs, tables, equipment, books), please return them to where you found them so that we can leave the building as it was before the service. Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Whole Word Fellowship

Invites Us to Join Them . . .

Our hosts at the Vale Road Meeting Place have been very hospitable, not only in allowing us to hold our worship services in their space, but also by inviting our congregation to join them for many of their events. Below is a list of events that they have especially extended an invitation to our congregation:

Bonfire and Cook-out - This Friday, June 22 - WWF will hold a bonfire and cook-out down in the glade at the Vale Road property, which they are hosting as a fundraiser for their fall retreats. There will be hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, slaw, chips, S'mores, and hayrides! The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children (ages 4-12), and children under 3 are free. Please sign-up by June 19 at [email protected]. Bring lawn chairs and bug spray. This is a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy Christian fellowship and a particularly good time for families to enjoy all that the Vale Road property has to offer.

Women's RetreatSeptember 28-30, 2012 - Whole Word Fellowship welcomes women of the church to join together for a retreat which will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn. Women from The Gate and Life Church International are also invited. They're looking forward to an incredible weekend of God's anointing and power. Cost is $95.00 per person. More details to come.

Men's Retreat - September 28-30, 2012 - Men of the church are welcome to join Whole Word Fellowship at their Men's Retreat at Blue Mountain Christian Retreat Center in New Ringgold, PA. The guest speaker will be Dr. Paul Johannson. Cost is $110.25 which includes two nights of lodging and five meals. Please visit the retreat website for more information about this very special weekend.

Share What God Has Done

[email protected]

We are all encouraged to hear how God is healing bodies and transforming lives! Please share your testimony of what God has done in your life through our shared ministry by sending an email to David Harper.

Or you may jot it down on paper and place it in the offering plate on Sunday afternoon. Each weekend at the door to the sanctuary you will also find a small rack with not only the Sermon Notes, but  a dedicated form (it's purple) that you can use for sharing a testimony, word of knowledge, or prophesy.
