FWA eNEWS Volume 2 # 9 · November 2009 |
Greetings,
Since 2004, the Florida
Writers Association has seen unprecedented growth and vitality, now reaching
1,000 members, primarily in Florida, but including several across the nation.
We've added the Florida Writers Foundation, the FWA Network, mini-conferences,
the Florida Writer Magazine, and much
more.
After
five years of dedicated service as President of the Florida Writers
Association, and with the organization stronger than it has ever been, Dan Griffith has decided the time has come for him to
resign his post.
Under FWA Bylaws, Vice
President Chrissy Jackson has been appointed as acting President, to take
effect on January 1, 2010.
In one of her first statements as
acting President, Chrissy Jackson said, "On behalf of the Board of FWA, I want
to thank Dan for his commitment and dedication to the writers of Florida. Few
people outside the inner circle realize the sacrifices he made, and the many
hours he contributed to FWA each and every week. Dan has demonstrated true
leadership, remarkable staying power, and a vision for the future that remains
as a bright beacon leading us forward. I wish him only the best in his
well-deserved retirement."
Nominations are presently being sought to fill the Vice President's office. If you are interested and would like to review a job description, contact Nominations Committee Chair, Vic DiGenti.
