EMPLOYER CONNECTION

Issue No. 8

Greetings!

In addition to saving money, our pledge in assuming day-to-day operation of services was to improve that service.

Recently we have taken several steps to move forward with that pledge to improve service. Our key service to both job applicants and our business customers is to improve our capacity and abilities in screening applicant skills to match employers' job requirements.

Our recruitment and screening improvements will be led by a human resources professional with more than 14 years of private sector experience. We will be adding two more staff to reshape that function.

For our applicant customers, we have increased our ability to help them rethink careers in today's changed economy by purchasing TORQ (Transferable Occupational Rational Quotient), an online tool that will better assess their skills against those of the jobs that employers are listing.

The pledge is nothing fancy -- just hard work in these tough times to better serve our customers.

Root Theory: "Workforce is perfect partner" Root Theory Advisers

Dave Fechtman is not only CEO of Root Theory Advisors, he's also the 2011 chairman of the Ocala/Marion County Chamber of Commerce responsible for the chamber's Power of One initiative. That initiative challenges businesses to grow by adding just one new employee this year.  Root Theory doesn't just talk a good game; through  Workforce Connection's On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, the company was able to bring on a new team member. The OJT program reimburses eligible employers up to 90 percent of their new hire's wages

On-the-Job Training (OJT) - This program provides an incentive for employers to hire qualified people who may not have the experience for your position. By hiring an employee in a training capacity, you may be reimbursed for a portion of that employee's salary, currently up to 90 percent of wages.

Employed Worker Training (EWT) - These short-term training programs can be customized to meet the needs of your workforce. The best part: if training results in a nationally recognized certification or licensure,  Workforce Connection may pay 50 percent of the training cost.
