EMPLOYER CONNECTION

Issue No. 3

Greetings!

These are challenging times for those who have  been out of work for an extended period of time.  There are no gimmicks that will help people return to work, only hard work by the job applicants.  Our job is to help the applicant by providing him or her with tools that can better inform them of their choices and options.  For the employer, our job is to assist them in filling their open positions by using our skills and assessment tools to make sure that we provide them with the best qualified applicants. Neither of these can be an easy job, but we are working hard to earn the trust of both.

Soon we will be piloting a new assessment product that works for both. It looks at transferable skills.  This will help the applicant widen their job search by giving them broader options on jobs that require their skills.  For employers, it will assist us in referring more qualified applicants and help us in designing training programs for their current workers.

We are also working hard to support the efforts of our three economic development partners to bring more jobs to Citrus, Levy and Marion counties. We are partnering with our Chambers of Commerce to reach out to existing business and tailor our services to meet their needs.  We need your input on how we can better assist your company as it begins to expand or rebuild its business.  We are also asking for your business -- your jobs.

Our recovery will be one job at a time.  If you have an opening please let us have the opportunity to list your opening and refer some of the more than 26,000 friends and neighbors that live in our area and are without jobs.  Give us your feedback on how we are doing.

You have our pledge to work hard; give us the opportunity to prove it.

Rusty Skinner, CEO

Spotlight on Employer Success: Verteks
Company that helps other businesses outsource IT finds Workforce Connection offers HR solutions.
Verteks Consulting logo

Verteks Consulting President and Founder Don Gulling knows the value of local outsourcing.

Since 1996, the Ocala-based company has specialized in the implementation and management of computer networks and VoIP phone systems for businesses and government agencies, large and small, in the heart of Florida.

So when the company began to boom and Verteks needed to expand its staff, Gulling turned to Workforce Connection as his go-to source for human resources.

"Workforce Connection is like our own outsourced HR department," Gulling said. "Honestly, to me it was a big surprise, the first time I found out about services  Workforce Connection offers businesses."  Read more about how Verteks benefited from Workforce Connections' money-saving on-the-job (OJT) training program:   Verteks Consulting Success Story
