U.S. Secretary of Education Cites Innovative MSAP
Program!
In a talk delivered at the Council on Foreign Relations meeting on May 26,
U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan spoke on the importance of increasing
foreign language fluency and cultural awareness through continuing support for foreign language, area and international studies and
infrastructure building at U.S. colleges and universities.
In noting the importance of our "strong start with programs like our Title VI and Fulbright-Hays Program," and the current administration's commitment to increased collaboration with the Muslim world, Secretary Duncan went on to say that "...we are encouraging our national resource
centers to
strengthen ties with partner institutions in areas of the world with
substantial Muslim populations. We will support and help build on
innovative education efforts like the University of Hawaii's Muslim
Societies in Asia and the Pacific Program."
