Aloha! Have you checked our new website lately?

Visit our new website at msaphawaii.org for a full listing of events, opportunities, and resources related to the study of Muslim communities throughout the Asia Pacific region.

MSAP seeks to serve as a national resource center for academics and the general public seeking information on Muslim societies in Asia and the Pacific. In our newsletters we try to reflect a diversity of topics, issues, and themes relevant to the program's overall focus. Enjoy this week's offerings!

Changes...

The School of Pacific & Asian Studies and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies would like to acknowledge Nezia Azmi for her tremendous contribution to the creation and development of MSAP over the past two years. Nezia finished her MA and graduated (with honors!) last week. Aside from her tireless program development work, she was responsible for creating and maintaining this weekly announcement, and for building the new web site that will serve as the foundation for MSAP well into the future. She now moves on to greater things. Our humble thanks falls far short of adequately honoring her amazing contribution to MSAP. Imua, Nez!

With MSAP so well nurtured and strengthened over the past two years, we are now pleased to introduce Cecilia Noble who has joined the staff to maintain the program through the summer. Cecilia is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology.  She has done extensive research on the Muslims of Mindanao with a focus on Bangsamoro ethnic identity. Welcome, Cecilia!
