You can't not communicate ... you really can't!

Last week I met a new friend for coffee and we had an extremely interesting conversation. Like many of us, she is a teacher of sorts and one of her favorite expressions is "You can't not communicate."

We talked about those words, how accurate they are, how they apply to everyone and fit into our daily lives, but it was later, as I mulled the statement over in my mind, that it really connected for me.

No matter where you are and what you are doing, you are communicating a message. Whether you are meeting a person for the first time, having coffee or lunch with a colleague, sitting in a meeting, speaking on the telephone or sending an email or text, you are making an impression on someone, often times without saying a word. And it's not just an impression on the person you are interacting with, but all those around you as well.

You can't not communicate.

Remember...

Are you wondering about the impression you make on people?

Do you feel comfortable interacting with others in different professional or social situations? What about introducing yourself and making small talk? Does speaking on the telephone or writing a professional email concern you? Have you been told your table manners need work?

I can help. Business etiquette is not stuffy or boring, and I promise, no rulers across the knuckles! If you are interested in getting together for coffee, give me a call at 360.798.4912 or send me an email.  Communicating can be fun!
