Do you remember leaving a message for someone on their business phone late at night or over the weekend, knowing they would get it first thing in the morning? It was a great way to not only cross things off of the to-do list, but also get a leg up on a competitor.

However, with so many people now using cell phones for business, leaving messages at odd hours is no longer a safe option. When you remember that important detail at 11:00 pm, or make that request for an appointment call at 6:30 am on a Saturday, you are probably not going to be making friends. In fact, you may be burning a bridge before you even reach it.

It's best to conduct business during normal business hours.

Remember...

We are long past the days when people had a business phone at the office, a land line at home, and the idea of a cell phone was a novelty. A cell phone very often covers everything and is capable of all sorts of distinctions, so it is imperative that you as the caller be very careful about the when and why.

You just never know.
