I had a rather ugly discussion with someone recently; the pressure was on, stress levels were very high, and unfortunately, we didn't get off to a good start from the beginning. She claimed I had been very rude to her the day before ... I felt she had been extremely insulting to me, and when I said as much, she was surprised, because she thought she had been very polite.
It's all about perception. Everyone sees things differently, and how they view things is what happened.
For example, think of four reporters being called to cover the story of a fire. Once at the scene, each journalist stations himself at a different corner of the building and interviews witnesses to the event. When notes are later compared, each interpretation is different. Is someone right and someone else wrong? No ... the angle from which the scene was viewed provided a different look at what had happened.
Perception. Even if you are absolutely, 100% positive you are correct in your viewpoint, there is always room to take a step back and look at the matter from a different perspective. It may not change your mind, but it will still be there.

Remember...
In thinking about different perspectives I Googled "Who's right & who's wrong", and about 21,800 results popped up ... pertaining to everything from social media and divorce to who is the best dressed in the NBA and thyroid disorders. Obviously, there are a lot of opinions out there regarding a lot of subjects. Who IS to say who is right and what is better? Perception matters. |
