Over-heard in a store ... A customer asks an employee about an item; the employee responds by telling her it is not in stock. He then goes on to tell her that if HE were running the business, he would make sure of this, and he would also do this. Furthermore, he thinks that should be done in a different way. How much confidence is a customer going to have in the establishment's ability to meet her needs when the employee's lack of professionalism and respect for his employer is so obvious?
For as long as you work for a business, you are their representative. It is important that your words and actions show the company off in the best way possible; their success affects your job!
What does a "good" employee look like? He is courteous, friendly and helpful to others, both internal and external to the organization. She is a good ambassador and puts forth effort to strengthen the company's reputation with customers and the business community.
How do you come across to others?

Remember...
Everyone can, and does, have a bad day, or days. It's important not to bring them in to work with you. No one enjoys being around a person who is grumpy, complaining and unhappy. Try to look at a difficult situation as an opportunity to learn. Keeping a positive attitude as you work through a problem, offering alternatives and finding a solution which will leave your customer happy and satisfied will leave you feeling good about yourself and the experience. |
