GardenLife Sneak Peek This Week's Radio Show

| Saturday, January 15
8-9 PST, 11am-Noon EST
Tom Shappie from WaterRounds will explain about putting rings around your garden plants and the importance of incorporating them into our landscapes.
His products are basically non-eroding watering basins which save "time, work and water". Gardeners are able to water plants much faster because they're able to fill the round quickly like a bucket and the water soaks into the root zone. While this can also be done with dirt berms, the Rounds save the time of constantly rebuilding as the dirt erodes. WaterRounds products "funnel" water and nutrients deep into the ground enabling the plant to establish a substantial and healthy root system. Chicken manure is one of the richest animal manures in N-P-K, but should be composted before using in the garden to avoid burning your plants. Recently, Chinese researchers have found another use for poultry droppings. When they added chicken manure to oil-contaminated soil, it increased bacterial growth as well as accelerated the biodegradation of petroleum pollutants.
