BioTech Enumeration & Identification
|
And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six. - Revelation 13:16-18

Shalom in Christ Jesus,
Be Alert Sheep!
 | The articles posted below are quite disturbing for anyone
who is concerned about tyranny, whether from the government, corporate or any
other possible level, as well as the abuse of technology that is rapidly making
it possible to track nearly every and anything a person does from cradle to
grave. Early on in this ministry I coined the phrase "the
road to artificial omniscience" concerning this trend and how it
could eerily give Satan the ability to have pseudo-omniscience over humans who
take the mark of the beast (whatever that turns out to be). I always
pondered this when considering that Satan is a counterfeiter and that the mark
of the beast will act as a sort of counter to the "mark" that God gives
believers, that is The Holy Spirit.
While I am in complete agreement with the idea that those
who will take the mark of the beast have already done so in their heart, I
cannot help but see some sort of technology involved in the implementation (of
course I may be completely wrong). We have already witnessed technology
recently giving the enemy remarkable control over the world communication and
financial systems. I also know very well that there is a spiritual aspect to
this as many brethren lovingly point out every time I compose an alert on this
subject. Yet, we need to 'be alert' of this topic as we do all things that
pertain to threats to believers in the last days, even if it just turns out to
be an aid in evangelism. While the marvels of modern science and computers
have awed us, it has also made the pursuit of endeavors once accessible only to
the most wealthy and powerful now everyday affairs for nearly all. Publishing,
writing, music and artwork are just a few examples. However, we have never been
so vulnerable as we are today as so much of our daily lives are built upon a
virtual reality that can easily be manipulated, broken or destroyed by any of a
number of scenarios, both man-made and natural disasters. From a Biblical worldview, this is all to be expected, as
God wrote it all beforehand in His Word so we would be prepared and the His
Word is true and will be fulfilled as it is written. We also have complete assurance in the finished work of The Lord
Jesus Christ, and so the question we must ask ourselves is - that in order to
rest in that assurance, have we responded to His call? As well, unlike many who claim to have the whole
eschatological timeline all figured out, I am happy to sit comfortably in a
state of tension except for being unapologetically pre-millennial as I believe
there are still too many scriptures we don't fully understand and we have
allowed ourselves to be biased by the opinions of men rather than Word of God.
One only needs to look back to the first coming of Christ and see how few
understood then; even the apostles closest to Him failed to understand who
Jesus was, and still misunderstood at His ascension. This should be a warning
to us not to think ourselves any wiser, especially in the midst of the great
falling away. Upcoming alerts will have the latest info on RFID and new
technology as well as the latest Moriel news and teachings. May the LORD bless you and keep you, Scott Brisk BE/\LERT!

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. - Proverbs 1:7 No enumeration for 3000 'superstitious' people
|
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA - July 1, 2010 AIZAWL - Around 3,000 people with 'superstitious belief' could not be enumerated during the ongoing Census in Christian-dominated Mizoram as they failed to cooperate with the authorities, official sources have said. As the deadline ended on Wednesday, the sources said census officials would seek an extension from the state government to cover them. Reports from deputy commissioners, designated as Principal Census Officers, of all the eight districts said while a few of them relented, the majority refused to enroll themselves saying they were ready to face any punitive action. These people declared they had no objection to being enrolled in the census, but refused to be marked with a Unique ID for fear of the Biblical 'Beast' or the Devil, the sources said. The fear of being identified with the 'number of the beast' stems from the Bible's Revelation chapter 13 Verse 17 which says "...and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark or the name of the beast or the number of his name." The Unique Identification Authority of India stipulates that no one can buy or sell property without the UID card among its other key uses.

The National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace
|
THE WHITE HOUSE > The White House Blog - Posted by Howard A. Schmidt on June 25, 2010 Cyberspace has become an indispensible component of everyday life for all Americans. We have all witnessed how the application and use of this technology has increased exponentially over the years. Cyberspace includes the networks in our homes, businesses, schools, and our Nation's critical infrastructure. It is where we exchange information, buy and sell products and services, and enable many other types of transactions across a wide range of sectors. But not all components of this technology have kept up with the pace of growth. Privacy and security require greater emphasis moving forward; and because of this, the technology that has brought many benefits to our society and has empowered us to do so much -- has also empowered those who are driven to cause harm.
Today, I am pleased to announce the latest step in moving our Nation forward in securing our cyberspace with the release of the draft National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC). This first draft of NSTIC was developed in collaboration with key government agencies, business leaders and privacy advocates. What has emerged is a blueprint to reduce cybersecurity vulnerabilities and improve online privacy protections through the use of trusted digital identities.
The NSTIC, which is in response to one of the near term action items in the President's Cyberspace Policy Review, calls for the creation of an online environment, or an Identity Ecosystem as we refer to it in the strategy, where individuals and organizations can complete online transactions with confidence, trusting the identities of each other and the identities of the infrastructure that the transaction runs on. For example, no longer should individuals have to remember an ever-expanding and potentially insecure list of usernames and passwords to login into various online services. Through the strategy we seek to enable a future where individuals can voluntarily choose to obtain a secure, interoperable, and privacy-enhancing credential (e.g., a smart identity card, a digital certificate on their cell phone, etc) from a variety of service providers - both public and private - to authenticate themselves online for different types of transactions (e.g., online banking, accessing electronic health records, sending email, etc.). Another key concept in the strategy is that the Identity Ecosystem is user-centric - that means you, as a user, will be able to have more control of the private information you use to authenticate yourself on-line, and generally will not have to reveal more than is necessary to do so.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a key partner in the development of the strategy, has posted the draft NSTIC at www.nstic.ideascale.com. Over the next three weeks (through July 19th), DHS will be collecting comments from any interested members of the general public on the strategy. I encourage you to go to this website, submit an idea for the strategy, comment on someone else's idea, or vote on an idea. Your input is valuable to the ultimate success of this document. The NSTIC will be finalized later this fall.
Thank you for your input!
Howard A. Schmidt is the Cybersecurity Coordinator and Special Assistant to the President

Biometric ATM gives cash via 'finger vein' scan
|
Finger Vein Scanner on ATM | CNN [Turner Broadcasting/Time Warner] - By George Webster - July 5, 2010 Poland's cooperative BPS bank says it's the first in Europe to install a biometric ATM -- allowing customers to withdraw cash simply with the touch of a fingertip. The digit-scanning ATM, introduced in the Polish capital of Warsaw, runs on the latest in "finger vein" technology -- an authentication system developed by Japanese tech giant Hitachi. The company says that an infrared light is passed through the finger to detect a unique pattern of micro-veins beneath the surface - which is then matched with a pre-registered profile to verify an individual's identity.
"This is a substantially more reliable technique than using fingerprints," Peter Jones, Hitachi's head of security and solutions in Europe, told CNN. "Our tests indicate there is a one in a million false acceptance rate -- that's as good as iris scanning, which is generally regarded as the most secure method." Unlike fingerprints, which leave a trace and can be potentially reproduced, finger veins are impossible to replicate, according to Jones, because they are beneath the surface of the skin. "And before you ask, no -- it doesn't work with fingers that have been chopped off," he added. While the technology represents a step forward in reducing cases of identity fraud, Jones said that this is just one of many factors that have encouraged the Polish bank to adopt it. ... BPS plans to install a biometric ATM at every one of its branches by the end of the year, where, says Jones -- who has worked with the bank for over three years -- they will also function as a collection terminal for state benefits.
Although it is a first for Europe, biometric cash points have been embraced in other parts of the world for some years. According to business data analysts Bloomberg, the technology became particularly popular in Japan after the passing of legislation in 2006 that made banks liable for withdrawals by criminals using stolen or counterfeit bank cards. ... The machines are also dotted around parts of Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and even parts of Africa -- where, according to banking analyst Stessa Cohen, they are preferred by rural workers living in remote areas, who are not accustomed to carrying bank cards. ...

Poland to be first in Europe to have biometric bank machines
| AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE - May 11, 2010 WARSAW - Poland's co-operative BPS SA bank claimed Tuesday to be the first in Europe to install a biometric cash point allowing its clients to use their fingertips rather than a bank card to withdraw money. "Our bank is the first in Europe to provide its clients with a new means to secure transactions to complement the secret code of their banking card," BPS SA Bank vice-president Krzysztof Jagielski told reporters Tuesday. "Thanks to a system which scans blood vessels in fingers, they can withdraw cash from a bank machine," he said of a new BPS cash point installed in the capital Warsaw. Based on "Finger Vein" technology developed by Japanese technology giant Hitachi, the bank machine which scans the unique network of minute veins in fingertips was developed by Wincor Nixdorf, a leading IT provider for retailers and retail banking. BPS said it would install three to four of the new biometric machines in Warsaw by the end of the year, and about 200 more in the 365 banks in its network across Poland. ...

Biometrics a worry? They're already here ...
| Schools use ID technology for lunches, access WORLDNETDAILY - By Bob Unruh - April 19, 2010 A new wave of controversy is developing in Washington over ways to deal with illegal immigration as senators consider using biometrics, the unchangeable physical attributes of fingerprints or other identifying marks. President Reagan likened a 1981 biometric plan to the biblical "mark of the beast," and even President Clinton said the idea evoked "Big Brother," according to a key opponent. But biometrics already is in use in schools nationwide, with one company boasting that some 1 million students use its fingerprint-based technology for student lunches.
The issue arose over the last week in the Summit School District in New Jersey, where officials confirmed their schools are being set up with biometrics on a building-by-building basis. Parents at Washington Elementary recently received a notice that the school was "implementing a biometric finger-scanning identification program in an effort to provide our elementary students with a safe and easy way to identify themselves when entering the school and using the cafeteria." One parent contacted WND and expressed concern that parents were given virtually no notice before the announcement that the plans already were being instituted.
Children will be identified as they come through the lunch line by a biometric finger scanner. Since no two finger-scans are alike, this will insure the fact that only your child will have access to their account. We will begin enrolling the children in the finger-scan program the week of April 19th. [ See remainder of letter posted here http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=142989] "In light of everything we're seeing with the government and everything else, my concern is that the state keeps taking more and more liberties from people and wants more and more control," said the parent, who requested that his name not be used. He noted the letter suggested that fingerprint images are not "stored," because the software scans the finger for personal identification but "does not store a copy of the fingerprint." Even so, he said, "The reality is I consider the schools a government entity, and they're going to have this information on my children. "That information will follow them for the rest of their lives."
The letter from Washington Elementary Principal Lauren Banker said the system "scans the child's finger to create and store individual templates of unique points that identify each student. When the student returns, the software again scans the finger and looks for a match in the database. When a match is found, the student is identified!" ...
The practice of using biometrics to identify students is common in Europe, although there are many who raise objections. One of the premier blogs to publicize biometrics is PippaKing.Blogspot.com, which documents many of the disputes in Europe.
"Why is it okay to store our children's biometrics and they exchange their biometrics for food, access, books when we as adults don't?" wondered the forum moderator. ...
Sens. Charles Schumer and Lindsey Graham recently penned an editorial suggesting a biometrics system to address the breakdown of the U.S. immigration system. "Our immigration system is badly broken. Although our borders have become far more secure in recent years, too many people seeking illegal entry get through. We have no way to track whether the millions who enter the United States on valid visas each year leave when they are supposed to. And employers are burdened by a complicated system for verifying workers' immigration status," the two senators wrote. "Our plan has four pillars: requiring biometric Social Security cards to ensure that illegal workers cannot get jobs; fulfilling and strengthening our commitments on border security and interior enforcement; creating a process for admitting temporary workers; and implementing a tough but fair path to legalization for those already here."
Constitutional attorney and author John W. Whitehead, founder and president of The Rutherford Institute, announced his organization was part of a broad coalition writing to the White House, the U.S. House and the Senate opposing the idea. "A national ID would not only violate privacy by helping to consolidate data and facilitate tracking of individuals, it would bring government into the very center of our lives by serving as a government permission slip needed by everyone in order to work," he warned. "Both Republicans and Democrats have opposed a national ID system. President Reagan likened a 1981 proposal to the biblical 'mark of the beast,' and President Clinton dismissed a similar plan because it smacked of Big Brother," the letter continued. ...

Obesity Rating for Every American Must Be Included in Stimulus-Mandated Electronic Health Records, Says HHS
| CYBERCAST NEWS SERVICE (CNSN.com) [Media Research Center] - By Matt Cover, Staff Writer - July 15, 2010 New federal regulations issued this week stipulate that the electronic health records--that all Americans are supposed to have by 2014 under the terms of the stimulus law that President Barack Obama signed last year--must record not only the traditional measures of height and weight, but also the Body Mass Index: a measure of obesity.
The obesity-rating regulation states that every American's electronic health record must: "Calculate body mass index. Automatically calculate and display body mass index (BMI) based on a patient's height and weight."
The law also requires that these electronic health records be available--with appropriate security measures--on a national exchange. The new regulations are one of the first steps towards the government's goal of universal adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) by 2014, as outlined in the 2009 economic stimulus law.
Specifically, the regulations issued on Tuesday by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Dr. David Blumenthal, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, define the "meaningful use" of electronic records. Under the stimulus law, health care providers--including doctors and hospitals--must establish "meaningful use" of EHRs by 2014 in order to qualify for federal subsidies. After that, they will be subjected to penalties in the form of diminished Medicare and Medicaid payments for not establishing "meaningful use" of EHRs.
Section 3001 of the stimulus law says: "The National Coordinator shall, in consultation with other appropriate Federal agencies (including the National Institute of Standards and Technology), update the Federal Health IT Strategic Plan (developed as of June 3, 2008) to include specific objectives, milestones, and metrics with respect to the following: (i) The electronic exchange and use of health information and the enterprise integration of such information.''(ii) The utilization of an electronic health record for each person in the United States by 2014."
Under this mandate in the stimulus law, Secretary Sebelius issued a regulation--developed by Dr. Blumenthal--that requires that all EHRs keep track of a person's Body Mass Index (BMI) score. ...
The new regulations also stipulate that the new electronic records be capable of sending public health data to state and federal health agencies such as HHS and CDC. The CDC, which calls American society "obesogenic" - meaning that American society itself promotes obesity - collects BMI scores from state health agencies every year to monitor obesity nationwide. "Electronically record, retrieve, and transmit syndrome based public health surveillance information to public health agencies," the regulations read. With the spread of electronic health records, the CDC apparently will be able to collect such data more efficiently and with greater accuracy because the electronic record keeping systems can send the data automatically, eliminating the need for government - both state and federal - to keep, send, and process physical records.
