The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Southern California.

A series of storms beginning today through Wednesday night are predicted to bring significant and hazardous rainfall with the potential to produce flooding, rockslide and unsafe driving conditions.

From Friday through Sunday rainfall estimates are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches across coastal and valley areas with amounts of 3 to 6 inches across the foothills and mountains. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur Saturday night through Sunday morning where rainfall rates could locally reach .50 inches per hour.

Another potentially stronger storm system is predicted to occur Tuesday and Wednesday. This storm will have the potential for heavier rainfall intensities and could cause some flooding and rockslide concerns.

Residents in the previously burned areas can obtain sandbags from the following locations:

Fire Station 24, 9411 Wentworth Street, Sunland
Fire Station 91, 14430 Polk Street, Sylmar
Council District 2  field office, 7747 Foothill Boulevard, Tujunga
Sand and sandbags are available at the Vacant Lot located at the intersection of Day Street and Pali Avenue, Tujunga

In the event that evacuations orders are issued,  the following locations (which are accessible to persons with disabilities) will be used as shelters:

Happy Holidays from LA Animal Services!

Enjoy Special Discount Adoption Fees December 17th - 24th on Us.

It's never been more economical to adopt! We know that more dogs and cats traditionally join their families during December than any other time of the year, and LA Animal Services (LAAS) is making it easier than ever.

"Visitors are continually amazed at the selection of fabulous animals of all sizes, colors and ages" said General Manager, Brenda Barnette. "In fact, some people say that the City of Los Angeles has the best pets anywhere and we agree!"

The cost of adoption the week before Christmas (12/17 - 12/24) is ONLY $50.50 for cats and $83.50 for dogs. Your new family member will also be micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and this special price includes a license for your dog if you live in the City of Los Angeles! It's all part of the Special December Discount Adoption Fees valid at all six LAAS Animal Care Shelters and mobile adoption locations!

To help celebrate, the Found Animals Foundation will be kicking off this year's discount adoption days with a "Happy Pawlidays" adoption event on Saturday, December 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at all six LAAS Animal Care Shelters.  There will be giveaways for all adopters attending the event on December 18th.  Pet owners can win a beautiful gift basket packed with John Paul Pet products; enter on the Found Animals website at (www.foundanimals.org/john-paul-pet-contest).

If you are ready to add a companion animal to your home, the best deal in town is the dog or cat from a Los Angeles City Animal Care Shelter. You will help save a life and give an orphaned animal the home he or she deserves! For more information, please visit http://www.laanimalservies.com.
