Sue, a good friend of Corporate Jester, recently sent us a link that quickly made its way around the office.
The link was to an online video called The Story of Stuff, a 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at human production and consumption patterns. It makes a case for connections between a number of environmental and social issues calling on people to help create a more sustainable and just world.
Whether or not one agrees with the perspectives or conclusions made, or the way in which the author chooses to express them, watching the video certainly sparks discussion and debate - and we certainly enjoy that. Thanks for sharing the video with us Sue, that was very Jester-like!
Feel free to check out the video by clicking here. Let us know what you think. |

We've got to admit it, we really do love Google. The organization continues to innovate and introduce products and services we find useful.
Being on the move more and more these days we really appreciate services that can be used via a mobile device. Google has set up a handy webpage allowing you to enter the kind of device you have (blackberry, smartphone, etc) to get a list of the free Google products and services that can be used on it.
Our favorite is probably the most simple (and can be used on any old cell phone). You can receive all kinds of info by just sending a text message to Google at 466453 ("GOOGLE" on most devices). Almost instantly you will receive a text message back with your results. For instance, texting "sushi 95050" will return a listing of sushi restuarants (with address/phone) in that zipcode.

We are proud to announce that one of our new projects, The San Miguel Leadership Institute (SMLI), is mentioned in this month's Fortune Magazine!
The article features our good friend (and partner in the institute) Jim Karger, an accomplished corporate lawyer and organizational consultant.
As you may have read in past newsletters, the mission of the SMLI is to create and host unique learning environments as forums for the exploration of intriguing and timely topics for organizational leaders. Out of this exploration participants will uncover knowledge, insight and awareness that can be directly applied to their business and personal lives.
SMLI also provides keynotes, training solutions and consulting for organizations addressing a variety of topics and issues.
Our first Forum is tackling the subject of employee engagement - a critical concept for organizational leaders to consider as they look towards the future. In fact, as you may have read in our April newsletter, according to a recent workforce study, employees do not believe their organizations are doing enough to help them become fully engaged and contribute fully to their companies success.
We congratulate Jim on his Fortune article and look forward to all the interesting things we will be doing with him under the SMLI banner!

With airfares spiraling out of sight (especially for business travelers), Corporate Jester is always looking for an edge - we travel a lot and want to pass on any travel savings we can find to our clients. We have been using Kayak.com to find great fares and thought we would recommend it to you.
Kayak is a free travel search engine that searches hundreds of travel sites from all over the world providing comparative information in an easy-to-use format so you can make fully informed travel decisions.
Unlike sites like Orbitz and Travelocity, Kayak doesn't actually sell anything - they provide information and the links to send you directly to the source to make your purchase.
We really like the quality of information Kayak provides, the website's ease of use and the way information is presented. To give Kayak a try, click here. | |
One quick request from the editorial team. Each month we try to put together a newsletter that is fun, informative and has a little something for everyone. How are we doing?
Could you take a moment to drop us a line to tell us what you have enjoyed most in past editions? What would you like to see more of? We want to continue to bring you a newsletter you look forward to opening each month!
Thanks for being a part of Corporate Jester.
Sincerely,
The Newsletter Team Corporate Jester
