Stock up on a variety of holiday cookies from our extraordinary Roe-Jan bakers.  Grab some homemade soup for lunch.   Book sa
le will include more than 4,000 books, DVDs, videos, CDs and audio books.  Prices will be double for "Early Birds" during the first hour ofGingerbread the sale and 1/2 price from noon on Sunday.  Theme baskets will be raffled and can be viewed at the library before and during the sale. 
Donations of used books are gratefully accepted until November 30 during open hours at the Library.  Cookies too are accepted on Friday, December 4 at the Firehouse from 9-3. Sponsored by the Friends of the Roeliff Jansen Community Library.  For more information call the library at 325-4101.
Saturday, December 5, 24th annual Yuletide Fair and Gingerbread House Auction  Child-friendly
10:00 am-4:00 pm, Hawthorne Valley School, Harlemville
Children's activities, Magical Puppet Tree performance, the Pocket Lady, gingerbread house exhibit and auction, live music, food, bake sale. 

Quality crafts of all types will be available for sale: fine ceramics, handcrafted wooden toys, jewelry, handmade clothing, woven fabrics and other unique items. Older children and adults may participate in making stained glass ornaments and dipping one's own candle.  Younger children and their families can attend "The Little Troll", a puppet show presented by the Magical Puppet Tree. Performances are scheduled for 11 am, 12 noon, 1 pm, and 2 pm. Tickets to the puppet show are $4.00 and are available in advance by calling Turose at 672-7092, ext. 112. The puppet shows are a popular attraction, and frequently sell out fast, so interested individuals are advised to purchase their tickets early in the day. Go to.

Sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Firehouse and the Town Recreation Committee.  Hay ride will leave the Firehouse at 5:00, go to the Tree Lighting in the hamlet, and then return to the Firehouse for hot chocolate, cookies and gifts for the kids from Santa.  All are welcome!

Celebrate the start of the holiday season at the opening of the Academy's annual Handmade Holiday Shop. Sip a cup of mulled cider as you explore hundreds of one-of-a-kind gifts, all handmade by local artists. Jewelry, hand-knit scarves, porcelain dinnerware, hand-bound books, quilted handbags, letterpress holiday cards, and much more.  Holiday Craft Room open for kids of all ages to create their own works.  Free.

Saturday, December 5, Hudson Winter Walk  Child-friendly
5-8 pm,  Warren Street, Hudson.
Hudson's main commercial street becomes a fantastic wonderland on Winter Walk night. Many of the beautifully decorated store windows are animated by dancers, musicians or storytelliers. On the street, you might share a holiday greeting with a lumbering snowman,a walking grandfather clock, Victorian carolers, clowns, jugglers, dancers or African drummers. Walkers will also see mammoth parade puppets leading the Santa Parade, a Gingerbread Witch, elves of all sizes, and even fireworks. Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus greet children in City Hall. Live reindeer, jesters, a brass quartet, a bagpiper and a stilt-walking toy soldier all vie for attention. This fantastic melange draws thousands of delighted visitors to join in the fun.
Free.  This is the 13th annual Winter Walk sponsored by the Hudson Opera House.

A hundred year tradition of the Audubon Society, managed locally  by the Alan Devoe Bird Club.  This is an all day event from midnight to midnight but most people do it for only the daytime hours. Area youth ages 8 to 12 learn performing & playwriting skills as they create and rehearse their own musical in a three-day workshop.
