Click this link to check out Open Studios artists and their work!
You're enthusiastically invited to meet artists and artisans working in media from paintings,
ceramics, glass, photography, sculpture, jewelry and more. Their work will be on display
and for sale throughout Bedford in studios, homes and in the BCA Space at Old Town Hall. For further information e-mail Susan Grieb or call her at 781-275-3991.
Volunteers Needed And there's fun to be had!
Volunteers make the world go round, and BCA has identified several enjoyable and creative opportunities for Open Studio volunteers. You're welcome to help, whether you're a BCA member or not (and it's a great way to get to know us!)
You might wish to
-
Create a photo display on poster board using pictures of
artists works and their locations. BCA will supply the materials (photos and
board) but the ultimate end product will be your creation.
- Help to create an Open Studios passport. The visitor's passport will be stamped at each location; once a certain number of studios have
been visited, the visitor is entered into a
drawing.
- Spend a couple of hours at the membership table in the
BCA Space in Old Town Hall sharing information about BCA and Open
Studios.
- Visit each studio to be certain that the artists' needs are met. A fun job that includes
something that you would be doing anyway.
- Take a studio sitting shift (two hours) to give participating artists a chance
to see other artists' work while spending quality time in their studio.
- Host or help with the after-party for
artists and volunteers at 6 on Sunday evening .We need people to help with
the set-up, getting food (pizza and salad), as well as the inevitable clean up.
Please volunteer by e-mail to Maria Green or by calling 781-275-1439.

3rd Friday Crafternoons Monthly Art & Craft Adventures for Kids: Friday, October 16 at 3 pm
Try your
hand at bricolage on Friday, October 16, by creating wonderful fanciful creatures called "Trashimals" from the assortment
of recycled materials we'll have available. We will also have a copy of Dr. Seuss's McElligot's Pool on
hand to look at or read for
inspiration.
What is a Trashimal? It's whatever fanciful creature you
decide to create from our assortment of recycled materials! And bricolage is French for art made out of
trash.
We'll be working in the BCA Space on the ground floor of Old Town Hall, 16 South Road, from 3 until 6 pm, with snacks available until 5.
No
reservations required for this free parent/child activity but everyone will have more fun if you're there!
After you've had your hand in creating some wondrous creatures, you and
your family can plan a trip to the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem (using a Friends of the Library museum pass, if you're not a PEM member) to view Trash Menagerie, an exhibit of
realistic and fanciful creatures made by artists from around the globe on display through June 1, 2010.
