Dear Riding School Students,
Twice a year MacNair's hosts a show exclusively for students in our Riding School Program. Classes are tailored to every level student currently riding. If you are learning to post, you will be in a class with other riders who are also learning to post. If you can jump a course, so can the others in your class. Everyone enrolled in the lesson program is invited to participate.
Please note the date change - the show was originally scheduled for May 1 but got moved back to May 8 due to weather-related setbacks.
If the rider(s) in your family are wondering how they might stack up with their peers, this is a good time to find out. Talk to your instructor if you have any questions.
Hope to see you at the show, Nancy

Riding School Show FAQ's
If, instead of riding horses, you played the piano, this show would be your recital. You've been learning new things, working hard and practicing. Now is your chance to show everyone what you've learned.
You don't need to buy anything special to wear; the helmet, boots and pants you wear to your lessons will do just fine (although it would be nice to clean your boots.) A shirt with a collar should be worn (a polo-type is fine) and please tuck it in.
If your hair is long, tie it back in braids or put it in a net under your helmet - no stray hair should be visible in front of your helmet's harness.
Dress for the weather. If it's chilly, wear a snug fitting jacket.
Riders should strive for a clean, neat, tidy appearance with nothing to distract the judge from their performance, including jewelry.
Spectators may wish to bring chairs to be sure of a place to sit. If someone with limited mobility wants to watch the show, please let us know ahead of time so we can make special arrangements to get them to the ring.
There will be a concession stand.
Some of the classes will not be the traditional horse show fare. But if you want to show, there will be a class for you.

How it Works
This year riders will choose classes according to group lesson days and times. If you take private lessons and wish to show, please ask your instructor about which classes to select. Classes consist of showing the judge the skills you work on every week.
Flat: You will be in the ring with other riders at your level and will be asked to walk and trot, or to walk, trot and canter.Games: In these classes, riders will use their current skills in an unconventional way. Courses: Riders will negotiate a course of poles or jumps. (If you choose a jumping class you must also ride in a flat class as your warm-up.)
On your registration form there will be a space to check the classes you want to enter and indicate your horse choices. (An early registration date on your entry form will increase the odds of you being assigned the horse you want.)
You MUST pre-register to participate - entries made after 5:00 PM, Monday, May 2 will only be accepted if there are horses still available.
Once registration is complete, you can check the barn website - www.macnairscountryacres.com - after 10:00 AM, Friday May 6 for your start time(s.) Be aware that start times may vary by as much as 30 minutes either way, so please come to the barn at least 45 minutes before your estimated time. Go to the check-in table and then go get your horse, who will be ready take to the ring.
